Why are these people scalpers?
eBay is an auction site, and nobody is forcing any buyers to pay the amounts they are paying. It's not like these sellers are gauging people for milk and bread. It's a cd. If you've got the cash and are willing to blow it on a cd, good for you. But that doesn't necessarily make the seller a scalper.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not selling anything on eBay. But it's just a pet-peeve of mine when people accuse sellers on eBay of being scalpers. How come the person auctioning off his Spiderman #1 comic book isn't a scalper. Should he sell it for the 12 cent cover price?
I especially doubt that the sellers of these cds are the same scalpers, seeing as those scalpers wouldn't have been at the shows buying these cds! In fact, the only people who seem to be selling those cds appear to be Pixies fans who were fanatic enough to get tickets to the first show. Maybe it's fanatic Pixies fans that should make you sick.
They don't make me sick. I just think they have too much money for their own good (the ones buying stuff off of ebay, that is). |

That's what I'm talking about, pixiesseixip. They're not setting the reserve at $100 either, it's the market that's pushing the prices high, not the evil Pixies fans. |

pixiesseixp and klikger i'm sorry my little rant made you think you had to defend yourselfs ? You guys think i'm dissing Pixies fans ? not ! The people buying are the fans ! Some of the people selling maybe are fans ? The person who took the time to get his cd autographed just to sell it on Ebay the next day is not a fan ! There are listings that start at $100. What the hell does a 40 year old collectors comic book have to do with a 3 day old live Pixies cd ? Greed ? I think you guys missed my point ? I felt sick ! Now if a FAN had to pay a scalper for a ticket to see the show, you think that fan should buy as many cds of the show as they can to sell on Ebay to make up difference. I say Hell ya ! There have been cds with no reserve going for over $100 I think if you have the money and want something bad enough you should get it. Stop calling fanatic Pixies fans evil ! See what you made me do ? I just puked ! I'll see you guys in Pixie hell ! ROTFL Rock-On ! and sell sell sell !

If it was me selling one, i'd start at $10 or something. At the end of the day, its up to the person buying them. all they had to do was go to disclive.com and i think theres still some cds around for $22...

it's all about supply and demand. simple economics. there aren't that many fineline discs around, so if so many people want them, they will pay whatever they feel they want to in order to get it. so long as there is no reserve, i see no problem with any of it. it's not greed on anyone's part.

I agree with rivum.I was one of the many unlucky fans who wasn't able to buy tickets to (vancouver) the show.I had to get them on ebay.I ended up paying $450.00 canadian for two tickets which sucks cause' I'm hungry and broke, but that's the price I'm willing to pay. |

Chick You are a true fan. It sucks that you live in Vancouver and had to pay for tickets on Ebay. Are they friday tickets ? thats the show I wanted to see. Buy some cds and sell them on Ebay. make some money back. Just start the bid at what you payed for them, and list it for a 5-7 day auction. you will get most of your ticket price back. Enjoy the show !

I checked back to see how one of the cd's ended on Ebay. This was a starting bid of $99.99 Plus a photo copy of the set list and a ticket stub with a sticker. ended at $218.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=307&item=4007907507&rd=1 I guess buying a ticket for the show on Ebay for $200.00 would be cheap if you get an extra cd to sell. Blows my mind ! This is history happening here, can't remember anything like this before. Amazing !
