I doubt you'd be disapointed with that Nashville Deluxe Telecaster, but that Jag is the one I'd buy, just cos I'm a surf doggy. |

Yep, go for the Telecaster. Maybe the Aerodyne one, it looks like it's got a Jazzmaster pick up in the neck....interesting.

I think you could eliminate the Squier.........isn't Squier a sub-division of Fender, anyway?

Squier, they are, yep. Cheap versions, lower in quality, no matter what people say. I hear the old old 80s Squiers are better, heavier too apparently.

I own a Squier Strat, and they're great! They're made by Fender. Awesome tone, and a little slimmer than a "Fender" Strat. Great action, very comfortable to play. The only differences are probably cheaper parts. Cheaper wire in the pick-up coil windings...basically just lesser quality electronics. But they're STILL a mean guitar! And for the price, you can't go wrong! Musician's Friend has a limited run butterchotch blonde Tele for $169. Epiphones are good, too. They're Gibson's "budget line", if you will, just like Squier is Fender's. Same companies, but just a few slight differences. Better than those "lawsuit" guitars that all the other companies make. Fender and Gibson are THE guitar companies. Everyone else just copies from them, and modifies theirs to say that they're different. But if you're still deadset on getting a "real" guitar, you can at least buy a Squier or Epiphone as a starter, and then when you want to advance, you should have good resale value.

Edit:
1. PRS SE Soapbar (not on the list above, just found it - combines the best of the Santana and the Gibson DC) 2. Fender Jazzmaster Reissue (MIJ) 3. Fender Deluxe Nashville Telecaster 4. Ibanez Artcore
These are the final four I am sticking with I think. Now I just have to play them. |

good choice. get rid of the squier and the epiphones for sure they are crap and you will be dissapointed. i would go with the first on your list. if you got the money get something decent because you get what you pay for with a $150 guitar. good luck. |

Those guitars are all so different, and anyone who tells you which to get is just basing it on what they like better. Why don't you go out and actually play those guitars for yourself instead of letting people online (who might have totally different tastes than you) decide for you?
