My wife is out shopping yesterday at the mall, somewhere on Long Island, and while in the Gap store she starts to hum to herself. She said she did it unconsciously and didn’t realize the song until my 5 year old son starts to sing the words out loud and dance in front of the store mirror. Big Red is playing over the store PA in all its glory. A store employee must have brought in a mixed because she said the next song after Big Red wasn’t Space Is Gonna Do Me Good, another song he enjoys singing.
Wish I was there.

The song is probably about Frank's obsession with chewing gum

Shouldn't that be they kill good workers to make jeans?

The Gap makes these massive, four-hour long mixes at their corporate headquarters in San Francisco. When I worked for them in the late 80's they'd mail each store a large, flat tape that went in a special machine- a new one each month. It might be more high-tech now, I don't know- but the people at corporate make the mixes, not the local store employees.
btw, can anyone help me with the quote portion of a post- how to get it tiny? can't figure it out.

Unfortunately, his follow-up, "Juicyfruit," was deemed unworthy to be even a B-side. It is also a little-known fact that the Pixies were originally intending to change the lyrics to Neil Young's "Winterlong" to be about Winterfresh, but, when the best lyrics they could come up with were "I've waited for you, Winterfresh, you seem to be David Koresh," they decided to go with the original lyrics. It is rumored that the demo tape containing "Juicyfruit" and "Winterfresh" was swallowed by a certain unnamed record executive. But they say that stuff stays in your stomach for years.
