Where exactly do you think they will play in Boston? Back in the day, the biggest place (excluding opening up for U2 at the Garden) they played was the Orpheum. I asuume they will be playing larger venues this time. But what size? 10,000? I hope they don't play the Tweeter Center or anything like that. Maybe the Tsongus Areana?

They could definitely do a week of shows at Avalon (2,000). FB&TC sold out Avalon last year the night before Thanksgiving. Or maybe the Fleet (18,624) with a good bill? The Orpheum (2800) sucks to see shows at! I'd much rather see a show at Avalon. I hate tweeter center too.

It's absolutely ESSENTIAL the Pixies play in Boston! This is where it all started. Who knows... if they get some mainstream momentum and a exceptional bill... Fenway! Fenway! Fenway! (38,000 with field) I wish.

Fenway is about three blocks from the Ratt (the club the pixies first played that's gone now)

Frank was at Avalon in 2002 (Thanksgiving Eve) not 2003. I know b/c I was there.

My friend and I were just discussing where the Pixies could/would play. We thought Avalon too. The Orpheum is not the right kind of venue. Who wants to see the Pixies in a place where you are forced to sit down? Blah. They could play the Paradise - but how many people does it hold? I have seen Frank there twice.

Yes you're right it was 2002 sorry. I was there as well. The Paradise's capacity is 916. I don't think the Paradise.

I seriously think they could sell out 5 nights at Avalon (maybe start with three then add two more). Looks like October they'll be on the east coast

THE PIXIES ANNOUNCE FALL 2004 U.S. TOUR

In what is turning out to be the most anticipated reunion in ages, the Pixies announce that they will headline a full-on, U.S. concert tour this Fall. The tour will begin on Saturday, September 4 in Bend, Oregon, will include a headline spot at Seattle's Bumbershoot on September 6, and will run straight through to the end of the year.

The Pixies' Fall U.S. tour will follow their thirteen North American "warm up" dates, set to kick off April 13 in Minneapolis, their May 1 co-headline date at the Coachella Valley Music Festival, a seven-week UK/European trek which will take place from May 28 through July 11, the early August appearance at the Fuji Rock Festival, and the two V2004 festivals in the UK set for August 21 and 22. The North America "warm up" dates all sold out within minutes, and all 19,000 tickets for the band's four London dates sold out in under two hours.

The Pixies - Frank Black/vocals, guitar; Joey Santiago/guitar; Kim Deal/bass; and David Lovering/drums – are acclaimed as one of the biggest influences on the alternative rock scene of the late '80s. Their five albums and six years together effectively blazed the path for many of the biggest supergroups of the time. U2's Bono referred to the Pixies as "one of America's greatest bands ever," and David Bowie called their work "just about the most compelling music of the entire '80s." The North American “warm up” dates and subsequent concerts mark the first time the band will share the stage together since their final show in April, 1992.

Dates for the Pixies Fall 2004 U.S. tour are being booked now, but confirmed "anchor dates" are as follows:

September
4 Les Schwab Amphitheatre, Bend, OR (on sale Friday, April 17)
6 Bumbershoot, Seattle, WA (on sale March 24)
18 Austin City Limits, Austin, TX (on sale Saturday, April 24)

October
14 Fox Theatre, Atlanta, GA (on sale Friday, April 9)

November
11 Wilkins Auditorium, Minneapolis, MN (on sale Saturday, April 17)
13 Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, IL (on sale Saturday, April 10)
24 Arrow Hall, Toronto, Ont. CANADA (on sale Thursday, April 15)
