Yep, I was the 4th Quarter 2003 MVP (Most Valuable Person? Player? Doesn't quite work in retail...) for Sales at Best Buy. They gave all 4th Quarter MVPs free electric scooters. How cool is that? It's pretty damn cool, but I'm wondering; how much of a wanker would I look like actually riding this thing around? I figure it's pretty fucking awesome. It'd actually give me a reason to go outside when it's nice out, but I'm also somewhat concerned about how I'd look, especially in a college town. It's yellow. What do you think? This is the exact one I have:
Would you go up and down a not-very-busy residential street on one of these?

I would punk it out. It needs some horns and some sparks flying out the back. And maybe some jet-packs. Then you're a go. 
nope. still too yellow and scooter-ey. Can you also rig it up to blast "Long Way Back from Hell"?

I think they're stupid contraptions to begin with. Adding a motor does nothing to improve on the design.

Spray paint the whole goddamned contraption flat black and hang some fuzzy dice from the handlebars. Fuck "The Man". Wear leather (sorry Dave) and a ducktail haircut and say things like "Daddy-o". You'll be ok man.

I don't know if you'd look dumb, but I cracked up at your intial message. I think it's kind of boss and I wouldn't be concerned with how cool I looked. Especially if I had fun riding it!

You can use it to go to the bathroom. I wouldn't go around on this thing. Most probably it will remain without batteries after a couple of blocks and then you 'll have to carry it back on foot, looking even more ridiculous. Specially if you have a box on your head, as someone suggested.

Somehow the future was foretold with that picture...with my scooter, I am now complete. The battery at full charge runs about 10 miles or so...and it goes 10 miles per hour...so technically it'll last an hour of constant running at maximum speed. It's taunting me, I just want to take it out and ride it. Why the hell am I 21? Better yet, why the hell did they give these away to adults?

Jim, if Mel doesn't want you to, you MUST. This scooter could well be the focal point upon which all future questions of dominance are funnelled back to. I recommend riding it with a big, silly grin on your face and possibly your underwear over top of your jeans.

I saw a guy and a girl riding electric scooters in my street 2 days ago. I think they didn't look ridiculous because they were 2. The guy alone with an electric scooter would have looked totally nerdy.
I also saw a guy riding a motorized scooter, with a plastic oil tank, just like a lawnmower. Now THAT looked awfully stupid.
