I've got a folder full of these. We should definitely have another go at this once we finish this one.
Incidentally, I had no idea this was a contest sort of thing, but I've got a track or two that will secure me the title next time, I think. :)

I didn't know it was a contest.
I thought it would just continue to cycle, over and over, with new people being added to the "bottom" whenever they requested.

Its not a contest at all, just thought it would be fun to see what everyones favourite was. But I won't if its going to be taken the wrong way. Don't intend this to be a contest just something to introduce people to other music.

Finding mp3's is much more difficult than I had imagined. Therefore I have illegally converted a track from one of my cd's. I expect the police to be at my door by dawn. Hope you can get in a listen before I am incarcerated and my web freespace is shut down.
After much deliberation I have gone for a track from Tomahawk's debut album released in 2001. You may or may not know that Tomahawk are fronted by the legend that is Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr Bungle, Fantomas, Lovage). The track is 'God hates a coward'. Probably the song on the album with the most conventional structure. I reckon this was one of the best tunes to be released during 2001. But then what do I know!
Play it loud!!

Yeah, what do you know Rush-head? Just kidding, superb recommendation for A1 there, I'm kind of disappointed there was no 'Take On Me' though. Actually, I haven't listened to any of them yet(!) but I will, I will...
Cheers for the Prodge CD: "hw-hw-ping!"

I think this loses a ton with Patton putting his vocals through a fuzz-box fx dealie. Very mainstream chorus. The breakdown is pretty nostalgic though -nice Mr. Bungle feel. I liked "Birdsong" - it's available at the southern.net website (http://www.southern.net/southern/band/TOMAH/IPC40.html).
I'm still pissed, we got tickets last summer to see them here and even some preshow party passes -then we both got sick. Same week as our tix to Sonic Youth and preshow passes. That sucked big fat donkey-bawls.
Barney, were you the one that pointed the way to the free stuff on caca volante? Cause that site is awesome, btw. All of Patton's projects (almost) under one roof: http://www.cv.org/index.php?subject=Tomahawk http://www.cv.org/index.php
I kinda wish he could focus a little more and make stuff like FNM and Bungle again.

I suppose one could hardly expect Epic or Who Cares A Lot, but its kind of nice that Mike Patton seems to eschew listenability almost totally now! Actually, its really not that bad, I agree that Patton's voice is good enough not to need to go through a fuzz-box, and that lets it down a little. I always like something a little left-field, and this is considerably more so than some of the linked tracks above... I still don't think I would buy the CD though. I'm well over my 'jazzcore' stage...

Why, thank you Barney for bringing up something really different. Although I'm afraid it doesn't tickle my fancy... Sounds like it should be sung in German :)
I like the screaming at the end though.

Jedi, Cheese - I think Apl will back me up when I say that this is one of the easier listening tracks from either of the two Tomahawk albums. I could have inflicted much more wackiness upon you all! I think it's a great track. I like the distorted vocals in the verses (a la 'Planet of Sound'). The bass line is fantastic.

Sorry, thought I'd commented already:
I actually don't mind this one. Sounds pretty mainstream and not really all that interesting musically, but catchy and simple. I probably wouldn't buy a whole CD of this stuff, but as a single it's pretty decent. One thumb up.
For the record, thanks to the wolfman. After falling in love with Tuff Ghost, I bought the Unicorns CD on a whim and was NOT dissapointed. Very good little record.

I was just thinking that maybe we should redo the signup process for ring v2. There are a lot of new members lately and it seems that some of the others on this list aren't interested in participating anymore, maybe it'll be easier to keep going? Malax? Everyone?

Weird. I thought I'd responded already.
Maybe we're all just following the old If-You-Can't-Say-Anything-Nice-Don't-Say-Anything-At-All rule.

Not keen on this at all.
Reminds me of something I might hear on MTV's Total Request Live.
-
I don't think I've ever understood the draw of Patton. Seems to be a bit of a Johnny-One-Note.
Surprised I kept it on my PC after the first listen.

I don't remember an opt-in for new members, either.

So, would they just be tacked onto the end of the list?

Not everyone voted on any one song to my knowledge. A good bulk is ok though.
I quite like this song it seems a little to slow though. The chorus is pretty shit though. Rather inoffensive really dunno if I'd even bother to put it on during random song listens.

By the way, regarding this Tomahawk, I saw them live once. was very..erm..interesting? lol, nah, they were fun. good stage performance. I had this friend that was totally obsessed with Patton, and all of his projects. bless him.
