Isn't that amazing?! I love the "intro" in the beginning...when the drums kick in..fucking excellent..
::EDIT:: Okay...it should work now...

I was hanging out with this kid last night, and he couldn't stop ranting about how great the Kinks were. He put on Arthur and we listened to most of that. Good stuff, but I dunno, it's not the kind of music I listen to much of anymore. If I'd discovered it when I was in my teens, I'm sure I would've been obsessed with the Kinks. I bought Something Else a few months ago, and that's a pretty good album, but once again, their sound just isn't quite what I REALLY enjoy listening to nowadays. Still, Kinks are an awesome band.

I'm a huge Kinks fan. They mean more to me than any Brit band of the '60s. I've never seen seen Ray play, but I've seen Dave a couple times and he was great. All the albums from Something Else through Muswell Hillbillies are fantastic. After that it's a little spotty, but that six year run is as good as anyone's.

Weren't they banned from the USA for quite some time? What happened? Ray punched someone?

I thought Ray punched someone, too. (Or at least something like that.)
http://brandxonline.bravepages.com/articles/kinks.html says:
" any more hit singles followed, and the Kinks sound seemed to become part of the soundtrack to a new, more rebellious generation. As their popularity grew they toured further afield, most notably America. After appearing on Shingdig and Hullabaloo, and sharing the bill with Sonny and Cher, The Beach Boys and Sham The Sham and The Pharoahs at the Hollywood Bowl, there was a huge dispute over some paperwork the Kinks refused to sign. Due to this the Musicians Union in America banned the Kinks from performing in the country for the next four years. My personal view is that if the band had been allowed to play in America they wouldn't have gone through their "typically English" period of the mid to late 60s, creating songs that somehow make you reminisce about places and times you've known personally. (If you want further proof of this listen to "The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society.") "

Ah, it finally worked. Pretty good but it didn't really stand out for me. It's what I expect, at the least, from a live show.

That MP3 sounds like it's from later on, like the '70s or maybe even '80s.
