Has Frank Black or the Pixies ever played a gig under a different name? I know Pearl Jam does it all the time. Eddie and Frank are buds so I was wondering if maybe he is up to something. |

The Fine Lines calander had said that it was closed the two nights before the Pixies gig. Now it says it is closed Sunday the 11th and there are three bands scheduled on Monday the 12th that I have never heard of and can't get info for on the internet. Is it possible that The Pixies are planning a surprise gig the night before? I know that the concert on the 14th was not supposed to be released to the public until a week or so before the gig. Conspiracy theory or possible surprise gig? |

Rocket Equation ... Distance Equals Rate Times Time?
Who knows. This kind of blows the theory that the Pixies had the Fine Line reserved for two days, otherwise. Even the Fine Line seemed to believe that. |

Doing a secret pre-show would not be strange ... doing it at the Fine Line would be super strange. But that said, I'm not 100% convinced any of those bands even exist. If they're so hard to find any info on, they must not play out much ... and if they don't play out much, the Fine Line is quite a curious place to start. If Rocket Equation is anywhere near as obscure as they seem to be then Fine Line is sure to lose money on that show, so why even bother.
I'm not getting into rumor-mongering -- that got us into trouble with the LA shows, and I think the LA people had better fodder to act on than we have at this point. |

Yeah, that's what I thought. But they're apparently a real band:

Can't find any info on the others though, which is weird. Any Twin Cities local band kids familiar?
If this is the Pixies, I'm not sure that I care. Don't know how you folks feel, but personally I'm getting kind of tired of this Tristero bullshit. As of now I still have tickets to the first two official Pixies shows in almost twelve years, and that's going to have to be good enough.

There are not only no tickets to the show available...the cover charge the night before is $3. ????? Maybe something is in the works and The Fine Line is trying to cover up until the last moment. |

It's probably not unusual to have no advance tickets when cover is only $3 ... there's probably no sense in printing a $3 ticket. They did a Replacements tribute earlier this month, which was $6 cover and to my knowledge no advance tickets were sold.
I'd like to hear more about this "Rocket Equation" though. Sounds a tiny bit fishy, but not overly so. |

Well, if one of them is real they all probably are, but who knows. Anyone in Minnesota should be able to root out if these are real bands or not.
I'm exhaused by all the secret show nonsense also :-) |

I just walked to Fine Line to see if there were any bills posted or whatever, but no. They haven't rolled over to the April calendar yet, so there wasn't even any mention of the Pixies show. |

All, Obviously, the 12th at the Fine Line is a secret Pixies show. We can assume so because Josh's Google search didn't result in any hits for Rocket Equation. And we all know that Josh knows how to run a foolproof Google search. We can assume so also because the P2 is friends with the Eddie Vedder, and they always do things exactly like Pearl Jam, like when the P2 released seventeen albums of B-sides and "rarities" over the last two years. I don't know about everyone else, but I will be at the Line on the 12th, based on the solid evidence presented by Josh. |

The funny thing is, any club with even the remote possibility of having a "secret" Pixies show is going to have a packed house. More than likely, this show on the 12th is just some bands nobody has ever heard of. Then again, the place is going to be jam-packed anyway. Sort of a win-win situation for the Fine Line, don't you think?
I expect more "rumors of secret shows" -- probably started by club owners in cities between L.A. and Minneapolis.

And I don't know about everybody else but i am getting really tired of Passion acting like a dildo...Obviously he thinks he's gods gift to man. Personally, i wish he would just keep his fucking lame opinions to himself and let us talk about something else besides drawing attention to himself like a needy little fucking brat. Piss of passion. If i want to know about autoasphyxiation, Tiajuana donkey love, what it feels like to stick my toothbrush up my own ass, or how to repulse women...I will make sure to ask you. otherwise, fuck off. |

Josh, You probably own the Line (or Clear Channel) and want to start a rumour about an Eddie Vedder guest appearance at the big P2 show. |

Do you really think the Fine Line will be packed on the 12th just because nobody has heard of this Rocket Equation? I dunno, I'm not sure if I was even thinking that seriously about going. It just seems really odd to be playing a secret show at the exact same venue you're playing your first "official" show, and the night before no less. Then again, maybe that's their way of sympathizing with all the people who didn't get tickets to the 13th. |

"What it feels like to stick my toothbrush up my own ass" -- Sounds like a good topic for a new thread, if you ask me!
Personally I don't buy the 12th as a secret show either. Then again, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you do go, you run the risk of paying 3 bucks at the door for some bands that may or may not suck. If you don't go, and it does turn out to be the Pixies... well you know how that ends.
I think it's all horseshit personally. I don't want to sit around analyzing band names in the Citypages and trying to find hidden connections. You can pretty much see anything you want, if you want to find it hard enough.

I don't think it is going to happen either. Just wanted to throw it out there to see what other people thought (except Passion). I might go just to cover all the bases. It's only three bucks...coincidentally, the same price Passions mom charges for a toothless bj. Fun for the whole family |
