I was on holiday in Brittany as a child and made some good friends with some french kids who were staying on the same caravan site. We used to play table tennis most days and I tried to speak in french whenever I could even though their english was very good (and my french was bad). Anyway one day I announced, with arm outstretched for effect, that
"La mouche est morte" (The fly is dead)
There was indeed a dead fly on the window sill so I thought I was being rather clever. For some reason all of the french guys fell about laughing and it became the 'phrase' of the hoilday. I'd bump into people I didn't even know and they'd lean towards me and say 'la mouche est morte' like some kind of secret password.
I love the french sense of humour.

Oh, so that explains everything... Turns out I went to Brittany last year on holiday, and people kept talking about some dead fly and some english kid who made an ass of himself a long time ago...

It wouldn't surprise me.
By the way if I'm going to be an ass can I please be a welsh ass rather than an english one. Cheers.

Mmm... Thank you Broken Face.
Calistanian, "mayonnaise" is not even French. It actually comes from the Balears (the town of Mahón, on the island of Menorca). I know cos I had this as a Trivial Pursuit question recently :)
Mathilda May is French, though. Well, I think.

"I guess I have the most fanatical following in France, but in general, I find my fans to be a very pleasant bunch."
OK, so where are the French fanatics?
There are not so many French people oon this forum, after all. I guess they read les Inrocks too much.

Zis forum iz in Eengleesh, Adnan. Some of the fanatical French fans might not be comfortable with that language.
Plus, it is a little known fact that a fraction of music listeners do not use the internet. Shocking, I know.
We've all met fanatics at gigs that we never see here, and God knows some of them are dedicated followers of FB. They're just not interested in chatting with us, I'm afraid. Which is unfortunate, since some of them must have tons of cool bootlegs to trade...

The big difference is not between French and other European people, but American girls are really a turn off. Or maybe I had some bad experiences.
