Madonna is going on tour again soon (tour dates at Madonna.com).
I might go with my brother, she's gonna be at the worchester centrum on Sunday, June 27.
My were suposed to see her there in 1990 on the Blond Ambition tour but she only did two shows there and cancelled the third one because of throat problems. It was a huge disappointment. I've seen almost everyone I wanted to see so far:
Throwing Muses (2 times)
Kristin Hersh
Frank Black(7)
David Byrne
Elvis Costello
Divinyls
Belly
Cyndi Lauper
The Pointer Sisters
Beck
All that's left is Madonna, Prince and the Pixies.
This could be the year for all three.

Not meaning to be derogatory by this remark, but I just never thought I would see the sentence "All that's left is Madonna, Prince and the Pixies.". Just strikes me as odd.

I would like to see Madonna, I think it would be a (pop) cultural experience I would like. I've been lucky to see most everyone I really LOVE.

My list is something like:
Ben Lee
Liz Phair
Billy Bragg
Jen Trynin
Aimee Mann
Elvis Costello
and Frank (duh)

I also saw Paul McCartney who my mom loves and it was cool to be like "I am seeing a Beatle!"

I met Billy Bragg! I said, 'Happy Christmas,' and he said, 'Happy Christmas', in a nice Essex accent. He seemed like a really nice (if busy and slightly fraught) man.

My to see list would include Pixies (my dream is coming true!), Stones, Pink Floyd c.1978 (clearly not going to happen), Beach Boys would be nice, Groop Dogdrill reformed, Godspeed You Black Emperor, and maybe someone cool like Sinatra etc. Maybe Burt Bacharach.

i second that. well said el jimbo!

but yeah, seems a bit odd, was the original poster actually being serious or am i just being quite closed-minded in terms of some peoples broad taste in music?

I'm really serious about all of it.
But let me explain:
As far as Cyndi Lauper- I think she's a great singer and I think she's pretty cool, but I don't think she's put out a good album since 1989, all the songs that she writes now, and the songs that she covers suck. I would've rather seen her back in the late 80's instead 1999, the day after JFK Jr. crashed.

I can understand why a lot of people don't like Madonna and there are a lot of things that I don't like too- like most of her songs since 1992 are pretty shitty and I'm sick of her trying to enlighten people with her "spiritual observations", but I also think a lot of her music is under-rated:
"Like a Prayer" is her best album and around that time she was trying to create a new standard of beauty.
She was trying to make art in everything she did and I like that.
I got turned off around the time of "Erotica" and the Sex book because I didn't like how she was trying lecture people about how they should be more open-minded.

In general, these days, she isn't quite hitting her mark artistically, but I see the intent is still there. I think she will surprise people if she really starts to concentrate on music again.

And I was really excited when I went to my first concert- I couldn't believe I was actually in the same room with THE POINTER SISTERS.

I'd like to say too that 1989 was a good year for music- a lot of people put out there best albums in 1989.
Madonna "Like a Prayer"
Cyndi Lauper "A Night to Remember"
Pixies "Doolittle"
Throwing Muses "Hunkpapa"
Sugarcubes "Here Today, Tomorrow, Next Week"

i was considering attempting to get tickets to her London show's as a suprise to my wife who loves her early stuff...that was until i saw the cheapest tickets are £50!

but it certainly would be an awesome show regardless of whether you're a mega fan or anything....
