| I just wanted to post my apology to all music lovers. I recently went against all of my morals and put my two Pixies tickets on E-Bay. I just want everyone to know that I would never normally do this but I just lost my job and needed to pay rent. My inner music lover has been angry with me as I have been in the situation where I have to pay $200 a ticket and I always think that music is there to be enjoyed by the fans and these people are jerks. I realize that this does not make my actions any less deplorable but I truly would not have done it were there any other way to pay my rent this month. I truly am sorry.... |

Get of your moral high horses! Selling the tickets to a band you love to pay the rent because you lost your job is quite something else as paying $500 for tickets when you have that kind of money! You obviously do... Ifeelbad doesn't...

Just for the record, I don't have that kind of money but it was either going to Winnipeg, MB 550 miles away from here for a regular priced ticket(which i had lined up) or going to Minneapolis 80 miles away.
Winnipeg would have cost me at least that much,(if not a lot more with gas, hotel, food, wear on our car etc) and i was going to one of these two shows no matter what because I really don't care, I'll figure out the debt later, it's the pixies :) I was just saying that anyone who scalps their ticket doesn't deserve our respect or forgiveness because no matter how broke they are, they wouldnt sell their ticket if this meant that much to them.
Eating ramen so I can see the Pixies, yummy yummy. |

Well, though I don't agree with it, I say that the guy took the time to logon and formally apologize... why? He obviously doesn't like to be in the situation where he had to sell his tickets, but if it's the only thing he's got left to keep a roof over his head, I certainly can't hold it against him.
Anyway, I forgive 'ya, though I wouldn't buy your tickets.

the tickets were yours so it does not matter what we all think. in fact, had you posted that you had four tickets from which, you sold two and kept two for yourself it would not matter. personally i feel bad that you were/are in a position to have to sell Pixies tickets. now there is a couple of people w/ tickets that really want them.
a month ago i had 6 sets(2 shows), and will be traveling quite a distance to see them. selling some of those would have help w/ the cost of everything, but now i have 5 traveling companions. i am quite happy it worked out this way.

I think I would have done the same thing if I were in the same situation as you. You saw the opportunity to make some money and you did so...big deal. You lost a little karma. Like Dean said, you took the time to log in and post an apology. You gained a little karma. Money makes the world go round...big deal, the Pixies will be touring the entire US in a few months anyway.

| Wow. You must be feeling some mega-guilt to post this. Keep things in proper perspective. If seeing the Pixies causes you to go live under a bridge, maybe you had better sell your tickets. If you feel a need to do penance, some day in the future when you're rolling in dough, buy one your musically challenged friends a Pixies or Frank Black CD. Improving some poor slob's musical taste should more than make up for this incident. |

Well, yeah, I agree with jim & dean. Leave the poor guy alone. At least hes clearly a 'real' fan, who is quite obviously struggling with the fact that he was put in this situation. PLus, think about it, at least hes giving the touts some healthy competition!!

I think rather than him coming here to apologise, he's come here to give us a wider perspective on touts.Maybe them ripping us off for tickets is their only means of income?
OK fair enough that the vast majority its their own fault for not getting a job(ie the ones you see who wear tracksuits and big gold chains who dropped out of school age 13) but then maybe there are people who's circumstances force them to.

At least he didn't come out and say "I had to wait in line to purchase 8 tickets to sell on eBay to pay my rent." It seems like he sold his own 2 tickets...that takes strength man. Leave him alone.

My guess is that since their name is obviously related to the topic and they've only posted once, they're a member of this board under a different name. For obvious reasons, they don't want to post their apology under their real name, as they're afraid some of the people on this forum will hold it against them. I'd think that this is the best way they can find to get it off their chest while retaining the friends they've made on the forum.
And for the record, I forgive you (although that's probably easier because I already have tickets). My Pixies tickets are the last thing I'd want to be forced to part with, and I'm sure this was a major dilemma. Hope things improve for you. |
