The main difference between FB and Nirvana is that Cobain wrote boring, droning, uninspired, sanitised versions of Pixies songs.
I think the marketing men had more to do with Cobain being proclaimed a genius than anyone.
Nevermind just sounds distinctly of its time and extremely boring, whereas Doolittle or Surfer Rosa still has enough inspiration and uniqueness to stand out even now.
And do we really think Cobain would be capable of putting something like BLD together? Nah - he'd still be getting mileage out of reworking the songs from TOTY.
Just a thought.

I haven't watched Mtv in years, but I seem to find a striking similarity between the MtV theme song and the base-line to Bone Machine. But meybe it's just an era thing. Ya' can't knock the bone machine. The 1st performed song after 12 years.

indeed. but he does quite openly admit, or call it, his tribute to the pixies... but yes, almost identical!

"A Good Idea" is a great song and I know I've also seen Mould say it was an homage to the Pixies. As Pixies-inspired material goes, it's the closest anyone ever got to that sound. Cobain included.

I love Frank Black, The Pixies, Sugar, Husker Du, Nirvana...........don't care who ripped off who, paid tribute to, or adapted what to what to be their own. They all RAWK!

Why is 'monosyllabic' such a long word?
