I'm sure everyone remembers that song they had in the T*m Cr**se film Coctail. The best use of a Beach Boys song in a film I'd say is in a film called Wild Reeds by Andre Techine. It is a story about kids growing up in France in the 60's. They struggle with their sexuality and politics of the time. The boy Francois realises he is gay and his friendship with the girl Maite is a bit strained. At a party Francois comes out to Maite and suddenly the Beach Boy's Babrbara Ann chimes in and they begin dancing wildly. May not sound great but it is..........

i know a lot of people didn't like it, but i thought the use of good vibrations in vanilla sky was fantastic. made me love the song! i always associated it with crappy ads, but vanilla sky changed all that. the scene where that song comes in is so ace. very cliché, but the beach boys make it cool.

You're right.
Sometimes I wish i was a movie director just to use some of my favorite songs.

I am going to be a movie director. But they dont always have those choices, ya know. Unless your tarantino or some one pretty powerful, its just liek the music industry, you do what the guysbwith the money tell you to do.

But yeah, I really like god only knows in boogie nights.

And anyway, Beach Boys make any film cool! in fact, they make any thing cool.

I bet you never thought your movie would turn out this way

I'm a little embarassed to say I watched it, but "Wouldn't it be Nice" is in Bubble Boy. Also, "I Get Around" in Good Morning Vietnam. Oh, and doesn't Orange County have a few Beach Boys tunes? I know it makes good use of several Brian Wilson solo songs.

"God Only Knows" at the end of Love Actually almost made me cry...if I were capable of crying. It made me re-realize how wonderful that song is.

Yeah, I really like thatfilm...despite reservations about it. But I think thatsong at the end just is the icing on the cake.

And hey. you're not incapable of crying.

Just thought I'd throw that in there...

You are all wrong. The best use of a Beach Boys song in a film goes to Surfin' USA in Teenwolf, which also happens to be the greatest film ever made!

How about that Gap commercial with Dennis Hopper and Christina Ricci that the Coen Brothers directed? The music for it was Hang Onto Your Ego. My head exploded when I saw it, and then when I found out who the people were in it and who had directed, my head reconstructed, only to explode again.

I saw it about 2 years ago, so it's probably long gone. However, I'm sure it's available on the internet somewhere.
