do you have any theories or wild speculations about anything, in general?

conspiracy theories, predictions, philosophical conjecture.. all are welcome.

i think that Baja Fresh (Mexican food chain), though they use all natural fresh ingredients, also put in some secret, addictive ingredient in the food. i love that place.

Has anyone read the stuff about a Mali tribe called the 'Dogon'?

"Several specialists now claim they have found the long-sought "final evidence" of visits made to earth by ancient astronauts. The myths of the Dogon tribesmen of Mali, West Africa, contain astronomical knowledge which the native people could have neither learned by themselves nor guessed. Obviously, the researchers say, some more advanced civilization told them. These fascinating Dogon legends speak of Jupiter's four moons and Saturn's rings, which were not seen by human beings until the invention of the telescope. They speak of the star Sirius and of a pair of invisible companions. One of them circles Sirius every fifty years, the legends declare, and is made of a metal that is the heaviest thing in the universe. Astronomers have discovered that such an object (called "Sirius-B") does exist but only the most sophisticated and sensitive instruments -- unavailable, of course, to the Dogons -- can detect it." from The Sirius Mystery, by James Oberg"

Unfortunately it seems this story isn't as straightforward as it first sounds and there has been much suggestion that one of the 'specialists' investigating the Dogon people might have used a bit of 'artistic licence'...it's an interesting one nonetheless.

Check out the work of Zacharia Sitchin and his series of books "The Earth Chronicles". Especially good are "The 12th Planet" and "Genesis Revisited". These are non-fiction, filled with facts and data, but very interesting.

I have theory: the color of the year is tan.

Every college woman this winter seems to be required to wear clunky brown suede shoes and a brown jacket. I even seen a few people combine the look with a trucker hat slighty ajar.

Ah, trucker hats must die. I want a bumper sticker that says:

Good topic, floop.

I have a theory that's not too controversial but here goes...I think in addition to MTV having a horrible effect on films made in the 80s, it's consistent practice of showing quick-cut videos ad-nauseum created the so-called "Attention Deficit Disorder." Can you think of one person...one person in recorded history before 1982 that was diagnosed with A.D.D.?

I think that when you go to the dentist, while they're fixing whatever you're in there for, they intentionally start cavities, so you'll have to return. Yes, dentists should not be their own proprietors. You go to the doctor because you feel sick. You go to the dentist, even though you feel just fine, they tell you a million things are wrong with your teeth, and you have to believe them. I don't like the dental system.

There's an interesting show on the History Channel tonight about what a lot of scientists think may be the first computer. Ancient Greeks may have invented it, heh, cool stuff. I think it's on at 8:00 PM Eastern Time in case anyone is interested.

Heard somethin on Coast to Coast AM two nights ago (I'm an insomniac) about a 5.3 earthquake in Wyoming, close to Yellowstine National Park. Supposedly, record of the earthquake was removed from the books, and they (whoever they is) said it was just a mine blast. Again, supposedly, 5.3 is the level that an undergound nuclear detonation reaches.

Also, in Yellowstone (close by) about 1 1/2 weeks ago(?), overnight, about 300 elk were paralyzed, and later died from an unknown cause. The experts are said to be completely baffled. Citizens have been warned stay away from the area.

The History Channel kicks ass.

It's one of the very few channel's that I enjoy watching. All the others get me down,... they give me a headache.

I heard about this, too.

I thought that it had been happening over a period of about one month, though.

There are railroad, methane, oil, lumber and coal projects near-ish the area.

Also, I have a tennis ball manufacturing company theory:

You know those walkers that old people use to get around on? Do you know how they always have tennis balls attached to the back two legs, so the walker can drag easier? What's with that? Don't the walker companies make anything official for that purpose? My theory is that they do, but the tennis ball manufacturing companies are creating a monopoly against the walker accessory manufacturing companies.

Or maybe the elderly have been taking LSD for cheap recreational thrills (prescription drug addiction is a retirement fund killer), and in a fit of paranoia while ambling around the tennis courts at the local park, they mistake the loose tennis balls for evil tribbles. When they lift their walkers, all they can reach them with is the back 2 legs, thus, a smoothly sliding walker.

I'm sure it wasn't called ADD before 1982.
Its true though, they say all these kinds of videos, video games etc. are creating a generation of kids who are not able to pay attention to anything not moving at such a quick pace.

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure this issue is strongly addressed in the Tom Robbins novel Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas. I might be mixing it up with another novel, or I could just be loony. But I distinctly remember reading something about this in the past, and finding it mildly entertaining.
