Just wanted to update anyone wondering what was going on at the Independent tonight, it was just Frank. All accoustic, and he was in great form. Really good show. 9 pixies songs. In no particular order, Holiday Song, nimrod's Son, Caribou, bone Machine, Wave of Mutilation, Monkey gone to heaven, Tame, Mr. grieves and Velouria. Lots of the newest Frank stuff. At first he was chatty. Joked about having so many new friends since the band is back together. After that, just ripped through a two hour set. good night! |

Nice to see that Jane the Queen of Love hasn't been taken off the play list and I bet Adda Lee was great. Wow, I'm jealous. Thanks for the reports. |

Wow, what a great setlist. Adda Lee and Brackish Boy? And Bone Machine? Maybe I should have flown down after all....
Any talk about secret Pixies happenings coming up soon?

Yeah, Violet is/was(?) his girlfriend.
Sounds like a great set. Actually, a great night. Funny how hearing about this show makes me even more excited to hear the Pixies. Sometimes you just have to remember that FB live = incredible. I guess we have some hints as to their setlist too.
Seriously, I can't wait for this show, and I hope that I don't have to wait too long for another Catholics show!
Also, great to see him bring back some stuff from orange and TOTY and add some new stuff.
God, I love Frank. In a strictly worshipful way, of course. Now fetch me my golden idol (with chocolate on the inside).
I'd love to hear that set recorded...

Space Is Gonna Do Me Good!? That would have been great! Never heard him play that. Also Adda Lee and Brackish Boy would've been great.

It was indeed a great show. Some other notes:
He mentioned that the rehersals are going good. He said they all show up to the rehersals with their trays of Starbucks. And mentioned that that was the only place they can get good coffee in the industrial park in downtown LA.
Also there was a camera man there during most of the show -- not really taping the show, but taping Frank. My guess is that there is going to be someone / some company documenting the reunion and was just there getting back story.
Bone Machine and Adda Lee were the highlights for me. Everything sounded great. Velouria was amazingly emotional and good. I took about 100 pictures (all without flash!). I'll post some later. |

Tame was acoustic (obviously) and very slow. Interesting, but a little lounge-y. |

Thanks to whoever posted the setlist for last night's show in SF.
I have a question about one of the song FB played - "Atom of My Heart" - which I've never heard before.
Does anyone have any info about it? Is it a cover, a new song, an old song I've never heard of?
Any info would be appreciated. |

It was kinda odd, but it was cool. It made me worry that he wasn't going to be really belting out songs like he used to, with that raspy banshee scream of his. But, on Caribou he belted out the "repents", and it was all good... |

Phew! I was worried that he might be leaving out those screams of his, they were definitely few and far between on the FB&C albums. I'd love to hear that screaming back when he tours with the Pixies. |

Totally sick! Caribou was just ridculous! I think its funny that the show sold out so quick only cause the P's are coming back... Fair weather friends, indeed. It commands so much hype, every FB shwo I have seen in the past was so mellow getting tix, I had to pull some strings and get Guest Listed for this one!... when just last year at Johnny Foley's Cellar in SF, we bought tix the day of and sat in the front row!!! |

I just love that guitar. Love it. I always think of the mileage that Frank and it have put on together, and definitely imagine him sitting in his kitchen or living room coaxing the next amazing song from it's hollowed lungs.

Always a pleasure to see the man on form.
I have it on good authority that the camera crew was indeed there doing a documentary on The Pixies. Actually, FB was spotted the next morning strolling in the Lower Haight with Eric Drew Feldman, trailed by the 3-crew documentary team. A strange sight indeed for that neck of the woods!
So did anyone see the opener Rykarda Parasol? Any good? What kind of music? I'm assuming they were handpicked by FB since he doesn't always have an opener. |

I thought Rykarda Parasol was pretty good. Kinda PJ Harvey-esque, with a deep, growling voice booming out of a tiny body. It was just her with a guitar and another woman on bass. Said she'd be at SXSW in Austin with her full band if anyone's gonna be down there to check it out. |

Possible proof that EDF will be joining the Pixies on tour...?
As for Frank's show, it's pretty irritating that half the people there were only there based on the reunion news, but of course that was going to happen. Did they at least not pester the man about it?

I thought the crowd was pretty solid. Only recall one guy yelling out Pixies songs early in the set, with others yelling out older FB solo stuff. I could be remembering wrong, now that it's three days later, but I definitely remember being pleased that people were simply enjoying a great FB show. |

That doofus that was yelling for Palace of the Brine was right in front of me. What a tool. He was dancing around like crazy too (the only one).
Thanks for the Kudos on the pics. I took 147 in all. About half ended up in focus. I posted the best of them.
