Hi,
Has anyone ever seen one of these? I've looked everywhere and have never come across one. Not even on eBay.
How rare is this cd? How's the quality? I was basically interested because I want a cd with all the b-sides, plus "Born in Chicago" and "I Can't Forget" all on one cd.
Plus, according to that Alec Eiffel website, this boot also has the live versions of "Planet of Sound" and "Tame" from the Japanese "Head On" EP.
Any suggestions on how to get my grubby little hands on a copy?
Thanks in advance for any info! |

Well if you're looking for a cd with born in chicago and i cant forget on,i'd go for rough diamonds, probably the easiest boot to find. Download soulseek - http://www.slsknet.org/ and type in "pixies live" or"pixies bootleg" and you'll get a fair amount of results, should find what your looking for

i've got an original cd copy of "B-Side File 3rd Edition". i think i bought it circa '95 from a mail-order bootleg seller for probably $25. the tracks are perfect quality.. except for the old Peel session tracks at the end, which can be found in much better quality on both Rough Diamonds and the official Live At The BBC cd. Sorry i don't know how to find a copy now. i would think it'd be easier to find these days, after the release of the official b-sides album and all. If anyone wants to make me an obscenely high offer for my copy, i'll listen, but am not really looking to sell it. :) |

Thanks for the info!
downtothewell.com...what's a b+p? I pretty much have all the songs on the bootleg already, and could make a copy myself. I mostly wanted the cd as a "collectable"...
switchy, how much is a "obscenely" high amount? |

B+P = blanks and postage. you send blank cd's and return postage and the guy copies it and sends it back to you.
not an option for you here since you're after an original silver cd copy.

I bought the 3rd edition at a record / cd fair, 7-8 years ago. At first I thought it was an official release, and wondered why I hadn't heard of it...
Well, I don't know whether it's a real rarity or not, but sure it's a pretty good album, maybe even my favorite Pixies album! edit: the live versions of 'Planet of Sound' and 'Tame' are also available on the 'Alec Eiffel' single.

i can't believe that cd went for US$142.50 that is ridiculous.
what makes it even more fucked is that the seller (fooood) is one of the worst ticket touts on ebay and has been making a fucking killing on that as well.
i hate the guy.

well if you wait for a couple of months you can get the 1988 video on the new shiny Pixies DVD. the brixton one is excellent and is likely to get released at some stage. the crystal palace video is bad so forget that one.
the first 2 aren't really bootleg videos as they were official pro-shot recordings.

bizarre that someone else is selling the bootleg - the 2nd edition mind you, but only missing 2 songs i think - on ebay right now, and it's nearly finished and only at £10.50... i bet the seller is gutted. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4002875457
