Anyone see the BBC2 programme last night?

Quite an interesting hour and a half of telly. (better than the football on Channel 5 anyway).

Some healthy debate. I was surprised at the stats relating to the UK. See table below. Just over 50% are believers. By contrast the US is at almost 80%.

Website here:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/wtwtgod/default.stm

The studio guests included a barmy nun who seemed unable to express anything in words (not very condusive to a televised debate), Imran Khan who was immaculate in opinion and tailoring! and Sean Hughes, a fallen Catholic.

Also, especially brought to us via satellite, the ubiquitous scary Evangelical representative from America.

Another interesting statistic:

Question: Is religion very important in your life?

USA 60%

Canada 28%

UK 17%

i didn't watch it as i went to the pub instead, but now that you've mentioned it, i wish i had.

i had never realised that there was such a difference between the countries....
no wonder religion is so much more important in the politics of some countres...

I always thought England was pretty secular actually so those stats don't surprise me.

I've read a few reviews for the Passion of Christ and it looks like such a gore fest i'm actually thinking of watching it.

some woman had a heart attack in the usa watching it in the cinema - it must be good...
by the way theres no better place to look at how religion influences politics than ireland - the catholic church used to pretty much run the country!...they also bummed quite a lot of it too...

Are God's approval ratings still dropping rapidly?

I think His first mistake was telling Adam and Eve they could live in Paradise, and then kicking them out for eating an apple. I mean, talk about overly strict rules!

I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied.
