Well Frank hasn't screamed as much in the last 12 years... I might be surprised if he opened with Tame or Rock Music. I would also be surprised if it was "that song from Fight Club"

It will be interesting to see what they do, because they have changed from who they were in 1992. Bone Machine might be a good bet though.

i think that this being a "warm-up" tour they will play different songs at different venues to gauge audience reactions. we should definitely keep track of opening/closing songs as well as the ones we are surprised that they did/didn't play.

first show being in winnepeg, i change my vote to CARIBOU!

wade on!

I can't see Kim singing the first song, but I would have no problem with it!!!

It's called Where Is My Mind, now show some respect as it's one of the finest songs ever written and deserves to be refered to properly!!!

Pffft! I said almost the exact same thing at the very beginning of the discussion!

Rock Music, mainly because Charles would open with that whenever he was really nervous. I think that the first show in 12 years could be a bit nerve-racking for Frank...

See??!! *is hurt* *okay not really but still*

Don't get me wrong! I love "Where is My Mind" -- I was only saying "that song from Fight Club" because someone at my work said, "Oh yeah the Pixies, they had that song in Fight Club." It didn't have anything to do with anything!

I was just finishing her part for her.

opening with bailey's walk i think would provide fantastic energy and a wonderful mood for a bunch of stoked pixie fans. whatever they play, it will be great.

No one's mentioned it before, but how cool would
it be to open with "Something Against You"?

Imagine this, for Frank's opening guitar bit keep the house lights off (total darkness you don't see anyone on stage) then BOOM as soon as the song kicks in flood the sage with light and there they are THE PIXIES in all their glory big, loud, and fast!!!

Just my 2 cents,

Craig

ill take a wild guess

"tame"

that would surely make for a great start
and to hear kim and frank vocally "make love"
as they do on that track

what a great beginning

Or maybe Six Sixty Six, that'd be sweet.

I'll stick with my previous guesses from a similar (identical?) topic:

Either (a) they begin with U-Mass, as it was the final song they played at their last show and it would be a neat way to pick things up, or (b) they'll go back to alphabetical setlists, skip Alec Eiffel and begin with Allison (with an extended guitar opening as they take the stage).

Emo-Cheap Pirate Game Show:WinnIpeg

I hope they do play Manitoba, at Le Rendez-vous only a few people knew it existed. In fact that would start the show pretty nice...

I don't know about that not screaming part. I saw him in Santa Cruz and in SJ last year and he did "Rock n Roll" like you couldn't believe.

Yeah, lights out would be great...but too much legal/safety red tape to make it totally dark. Although, it is Canada...

It'll be Gouge Away as Franky has opened loads of his solo and Catholic shows with it. Could it be his must performed Pixies song. Seen him 5 times and he's played all five!

U-mass is also very likely

Personal choice, um The Sad Punk that'll get the crowd going!

I wonder if Frank will address the crowd at all. My guess is they will come out playing, get 3/4 of the way through the set list, then he might say something like "Hello! It's good to be back" then play the rest of the show...

It's been said already - but I think Alison would be a perfect choice for a first song.. a short, sweet and gripping song
