Hey, what amps and instruments does the gang use? I think Joey uses a Telecaster, Charles a.k.a Black a.k.a Frank uses Les Pauls and Kim uses Precision Basses. But, are they special (diff'rent pickups). And what amps?
Just wanted to know this for a while. |

You got that backwards, man. Joey's the LP man, and I don't think I've ever seen Charles use any electric other than a Telecaster, except for one performance of "Superabound" in 1998 where he played a Jazzmaster. The gear that they used historically has been covered elsewhere, but as far as what they're using now, I doubt anybody here knows.

I've seen Charles use a Strat in some early videos. At least I'm pretty sure it was a Strat. It wasn't a Tele. And in a concert from the early 90's I saw a series of Marshall Amps behind the band. I'm not sure about the acoustic guitars Charles uses, except for a Takamine he's been using lately.

Yeah, a contemporary tele for frank. he also played a mustang on the trompe tour. nowadays ive not seen him play anything else but a standard looking telecaster, electrically anyway.
there is a thread about this somewhere already a few times, but i cant be bothered to look for it at the moment, breakfast's -a- callin'.

In the town & country gig Joey uses a Peavey amp. Probably a bandit 112. |

Yeah, I believe Black Used/uses Teles mostly, and Joey's Gibson Les Paul Goldtop is near-legendary! I think Kim borrowed that for 'The Last Splash'(Or possibly 'Pod'). Amp wise, I think they used mainly Marshalls and Vox AC 30s.

The legendary Pixies Gibson Les Paul Gold Top belonged to Kim,she took it back after seeing Joey's maniacal playing getting faster.Joey got one of his own later which can be seen on the Hang On To Your Ego video. |
