You know it's going to be a kick ass show. The less popular venues often rock for sound.

I just checked too. Still Tickets left, and CHEAP too. 4 tickets for Saskatoon was $122 total. Compared to the 4 I bought in Calgary ($166) and Vancouver ($174) that's a steal! No sell out? It's decided then- cancel Saskatoon and add another Show in Winnipeg, Edmonton or Calgary! :)
(Did that draw the ire of all the Saskatoon Fans ??)

heh.. well in saskatoon's defence the tickets didnt go on sale till 2pm yesterday and it is the biggest venue 3600 or more and it is only 200k population. so 600 left is pretty good ! |

Well, the 3600 depends on the layout of Hall D at the Prairieland for this particular event. And, to be more precise, the metro pop. of Saskatoon is closer to 250k. You are right, it's a much nicer city than Winnipeg or Regina. I hear Priarieland has terrible acoustics though (I've never been to a show there). Though there really is nowhere else of that size to play. Are you from 'toon, Amazed?

You prefer Sask. girls to the ones Calgary? Are you insane? Granted, most of the women in Calgary are from SK, but still, Calgary has amazing women. Women who actually know how to dress. Where as here, a bar that has a dresscode dies.

We can't afford to send anymore people your way! Poor Saskatoon... we take all the little farm girls who only know hockey and spark plugs, train them in the ways of the urban centre, and then ship them off to larger pastures. Pun [in]tended. No more girls for you!

The Albany is no more. It was turned into a halfway house for men. It kinda always was, but now it's official....

It's way too far for most people, I think. 8 hours from me in seattle. No matter how you work it, it would still be cheaper to buy tickets from a scalper and drive to Spokane than buy plane tickets or whatever to Saskatoon. I can see how some people are excited to go to Winnepeg because it's their first show -- maybe that's why Saskatoon has less appeal? Dunno.
Plus, part of the appeal of so many of these shows is their small size! |

If there are less than 600 left, I would think they would sell out in the next month or so?
This show is the total godsend for those who can not get in to other shows. You willing and able to travel to see The Pixies? Step right up.

Still tickets. SERIOUSLY considering a long road trip, or a short flight. Chattering are my teeth. Or I guess "behind my smile, it shakes my teeth." Or something.
Anyone here ever driven to/from a western US city like Salt Lake, Denver or Boise to Saskatoon or thereabouts? Any comments or suggestions?

I've done Saskatoon to Portland, OR, but you'd have to backtrack for me to give you any advice.
This show is going to sell out. I've talked to a bunch of people today who don't seem to know that there is such a demand for tickets and are procrastinating on picking theirs up. As soon as I told them about Winnipeg in 3 1/2 mins and the rest of the story they seemed pretty decided to get theirs soon. I'm sure there are many others just a little slow on the uptake since there's not been much press yet and people are procrastinating or deciding on whether to make a trip up. If you really want to see them, by all means, get up here and see 'em! And get your ticket before they do finally sell out.

i drove saskatoon to salt lake a few years ago. it's about a 24 hour drive, but really it's almost all wide open prairie so there's no fear of sketchy roads or anything. with a few friends switching off it can work as a nice weekend adventure....that's what i did for jane's addiction in vancouver a couple years ago leave town at 1 pm on friday, get into van 7 sleep/chill/drink wine see jane's sleep then drive hitting saskatoon at 7:30 am just in time to drop off my buddy at med school. the next week was a complete write off but the trip itself was grand. |
