I hate to start a new topic, but I'm fed up with sifting through posts looking for the answer....
....have the Pixies (or an official source of theirs) actually come together and said "hey, we're reuniting!" *?*

"Pixies voor het eerst officieel samen
The Pixies spelen begin mei op het Amerikaanse Coachella festival. Daarmee wordt de fameuze reünie van de groep voor de eerste keer officieel bevestigd. Het zal hun eerste optreden sinds elf jaar zijn. Het is wel nog niet helemaal zeker of de groep in zijn originele bezetting zal spelen. In elk geval mogen we wel weer iets harder beginnen te hopen dat The pixies naar Werchter komen."
Translation:
"The Pixies for the first time officaly back together
The Pixies will play early May on the American Coachella festival. This confirms the famous reunion of the band for the first time officially. It will be their first concert in eleven years. However it's not quite sure if the band will play in its original line-up. We can start hoping that they will play at Rock Werchter this year."

Surely it is official, why would MTV, Pitchfork, XFM and other sources broadcast news about a Pixies reunion so strongly if they didn't know for sure, and surely if it was bullshit then Frank would be decent enough to let us know that it was a load of rubbish.
Who's the man that won't cop out when there's danger all about? |

i would hope he would have that kind of respect for his fans, too.
the fact that there's no "official" word from him or the other pixies doesn't really make me think that the stories aren't legit.
there's been no "official" word directly from radiohead or kraftwerk, either.
there's probably some clause in the performance contracts that goldenvoice has exclusive rights to promotion of the event and that all "official" word come from them in regards to coachella.
you would still think, however, that the pixies would hold a news conferance about reforming. it's a little weird that they haven't... but then again the pixies always were weird, weren't they?
