Does this long silence mean that you have all given up, or does it mean you've lost interest in our relationship? Why don't you call me anymore?

mmmm.
I dunno if maybe I didn't just pick a bad one. Too obscure?
It is a band from the US, made up of members from Giant Sand and Friends of Dean Martinez. Mexican flair alt-country perhaps? They've played some larger venues in Europe - they will be touring the UK in April this year.

They are on the Quarterstick/Touch 'n' Go label - one of my favorite record companies.

If you don't know them at all, this is probably useless, if you do, this is a dead-giveaway, maybe?

Wow - thanks for that, andyn. My head was about to a splode!

Am I right to assume I should just drop the song title for y'all and put this little wrinkle in the game out of its misery?

OK - it's "Service and Repair" off of the album "Hot Rail". I think a fair number of Frank Black and the Catholics fans would really enjoy them, so here is a link to some info:
http://www.epitonic.com/artists/calexico.html
and the mp3, on epitonic.com:

I do...that's why I'm sad. But come on...In a record store I have to sell crap so I have to find about the good stuff on my own, and being a used cd store... I have to wait till someone sells the good stuff....which is VERY rarely.

C'mon folks! Here's some more, hell, just about half the song:

"Go and look for the dejected once proud
Idol remembered in stone aloud
Then on coins his face was mirrored
Take a look it soon hath slithered
To a fractured marble slab, renunciation clad
His nourishment extract from his subjects
That mass production profile "

Does anyone want to take a guess at this? I know this isn't an obscure song - it's one of their hits, goldurnit!

Here's one more "clue": deity in an enclosed space....

It was a tuesday morn in November
I slept at your house the night before
We couldn't wait to get up to go for
A big breakfast in an old fashioned diner
A full meal six coffee refills later
We both have to be at work in an hour
Let's call in sick I suggest to her
I'll call your boss and tell her that you're under
The weather, you'll call mine, you will tell her
That i'm very sick and that
You're my mother

Hey Alicia, 'sbeen a while. Homer will be glad to see you back, he has a bit of a thing for you ya know.
Anyway, cowbell.

Northern Irish band, good during the nineties, not great now. First coupla records on Touch & Go. Do excellent covers of Joy Division's 'Isolation' and Husker Du's 'Diane'.

Yeah, I'll let you have that. Its 'Die Laughing' by Therapy?, from the album 'Troublegum'.

Shouldn't be too hard......

Romeo Rodriguez squares his shoulders and curses "Jesus"
Runs a comb through his black pony tail
He's thinking of his lonely room
The sink by the bed gives off a stink
Then smells her perfume in his eyes
And her voice was like a bell
Outside the streets were steaming the crack dealers were dreaming
Of an Uzi someone had just scored

Lou Reed - Romeo had Juliet

Easy, this one.

OK, my turn :

Which qualities does the one have?
- the one that is itself and remains.
- the one that is different from all others and remains one.
- the one that if it is seen with others it is in the position to become more than one.

No I didn't, I like Lou Reed!

OK some help : German experimental electronica, here are the lyrics of another song from the same album :

And the ship up there that wants to leave
Filled up to the brim with children
Hangs a little while, but the string
Is wearing-- silently

Wrong answer Cheesus!

More help : they're from Cologne, they released an album called Vulvaland (but these songs aren't on that one) and their name is made of 3 words. The last two words are also the last two words of a Bowie's (or should I say Showie's) classic. The first word is something your right hand often plays with!
