ummm, crazy band, started out with money from a national art foundation - filmed themselves banging on junk under and overpass. To quote from another esteemed member in another topic on this forum:
"Their first album was recorded in a crawlspace under a highway bridge where they lived, and was funded by the German government's arts council. They used construction debris as instrumentation, and still do to this day."
One main member has sometimes shared the stage with a crazy Australian band, with a lead member of some note. Banshee howling has become one of his favorite things to do in the "quiet" moments of a song....
Uhhh, The director Wim Wenders likes 'em.

No no no no - though Kraftwerk and Faust are great and fun. I almost got asphyxiated at a Faust concert Great White/Rhode-Island-death-trap-bar-style, stupid fogmachines and firecrackers heheheh.

Ok, the main member of the group has also appeared frequently alongside Nick Cave and the Badseeds. If that doesn't give it away, then I'll know you guys just aren't trying very hard. :)

hahahaha! You'll need to read back a few posts CoF, sounds like. Yes it is a tape head. Not abuse, necessarily, just regular old use will eventually necessitate using this product.....which if you figure it out, is the name of the song.
Here is a hint that might actually help:
When I saw them (Einsturzende Neubauten) in concert, this song, which has about a 2 minute-long section of pure high-frequency tones near the end, made me very dizzy, and was a very 3-dimensional experience. As you turned your head, the sound changed immensely, and it felt like the sound was like a huge pool of liquid filling the room, and my brain.
No, I was not, and am not, on drugs. ;)
