Friends, I thought many of you might get a kick out of this.

I'm extremely honored to have been invited to be a featured guest musician at a crazy show this evening, Saturday, April 12, in Savannah, Ga.

A special cover band has been specifically formed and rehearsed for this one-night-only gig at a beautiful, 300-seat theater.

The eight-piece group includes: the guitarist/vocalist from my Pixies Tribute band Debaserhead; Carmine Rojas, bassist and musical director extraordinaire for David Bowie, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Joe Bonamassa, Patti LaBelle and many more; Michael Ghegan, keyboardist and sax man for Supertramp's Roger Hodgson, Aerosmith, Elton Johnn and others; Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, iconic session drummer who's behind the kit on literally thousands of classic tracks from the early 1960s forward -- including some of the biggest hits by James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan, Hall & Oates, Joe Cocker and scores of superstar acts.

We also have an acoustic guitarist/vocalist who'll serve as frontman for most of the tunes, and two female backing vocalists.

Before the lengthy concert (two dozen songs written by an assortment of the artists each one of these amazing sidemen have worked with), there will be an extended live Q&A onstage, where the audience can learn about each man's career and hear personal anecdotes from their time in the trenches of the international music biz.

I'll play drums on two of Charles' songs that I suggested to Lyle, and that he was eager to add to the setlist: "Headache" and "I Don't Want To Hurt You (Every Single Time)."

In all honesty, I would have loved to have requested "Man Of Steel," "Humboldt County Massacre," "Men In Black," "At The End of the World," or a double-whammy of "Pong" and "Thalassocracy," but I knew the frontman/organizer of the event was completely unfamiliar with Charles' back catalog and would have looked at me like I was nuts for even suggesting such tunes.

So, I went with more mainstream choices that I knew would not confuse this audience that much.

Hahahahaha

It has been a dream come true to get to know Lyle in this way and to work on these songs alongside him and this wildly talented group of players.

To hear "Headache" with three-part vocal harmony (two of which are female voices), and to have the guy who provided bass on Bowie's Let's Dance LP and Serious Moonlight Tour playing on "I Don't Want To Hurt You" is honestly a bit surreal.

Best part of the rehearsals so far?

Lyle fucking with me by repeatedly launching into the intro to "Two Reelers" without warning a split second after "Headache" was finished, and me doing my best to join in on that bonkers rhythm while the rest of the band just kind of stares at us (only my Debaserhead guitarist recognized the tune).

:)

Anyway, I figured if anyone would appreciate this situation, it would be the Forum members.

I believe the show tonight is being professionally multi-tracked for posterity and maybe even shot on video as well, but unfortunately I will have no access to those recordings, and for contractual reasons they will likely never be released.

If I am able to get any sort of footage from the show, I'll be sure to share it here.

Peter Radiator!

This is fantastic! I'm quite happy for you. How did the show go? I give you credit for restraint, it would be quite difficut to not want to request songs like Blast-off or 1826, far from what a casual fan would hope to hear.

I hope it went quite well for you and everyone!
