                      | On a beach near Mexico Los Surfers Muertos raved
About a break on a shallow cove
 The Killer Dana Wave

 Los Surfers Muertos
 Vivieron antes del puerto
 Where she came from
She rode the wave on her long gun

 "Just one more ride"
 The last words she said
Killer Dana took her life instead
 Went overhead
She caught her last big wave
Killer Dana took her life away

                      | According to Wikipedia:
"Killer Dana" was a legendary surf break off Dana Point. The surf break was notorious because it came out of deep water and broke close to the rocks that lined the beach. The Killer Dana wave was destroyed when the Dana Point Harbor was built in 1966. A breakwater now cuts right through the heart of the once epic surf spot. In 1997, the surf group The Chantays recorded an instrumental track named "Killer Dana."

                      | I'm afraid I don't really like this song, and was quite confused by all the praise it got around here. I like the instrumentation and the vibe but the lead melody or the main chord progression or something just doesn't excite me, I feel like I've heard it before. This and Long Rider, which I really dislike, completely drag the album down for me in the middle. |

                      | ^ I agree with almost all of that, especially the last line. I mean LSM isn't a bad song, it's just ok. At least it's better than All I Think About Now. |

                      | I’ve been
it can get big really big
So intense that the landing swells
During 1994/95 could be felt and heard from a moving train

 Totally feel the opposite
For me, it's the apex of the album
Incredible forum divergence as usual :)

                      | I used to think LSM was the weakest track on BTE as I felt it was boring.
But on further listens I've changed my mind. I believe Bedbug pointed out the magnificent outro and from there it sounds like it could belong on Bossanova.

it's almost like an ugly sister to Ana. Same surfers but ones hot the other is dead. Maybe they're the same.
