Man I miss the song oracle!

I did a search and Robert Onion was not covered by the song oracle.

What do you think about Robert Onion?

Robert leads me into thought
Onion layers wait for you
Bounty of eternal fields

Every muscle knot I feel
Robert tell me what to do
Tell exactly what you're not, yeah

Tails pushing grand whales
Heads hope to have the stuff
Each flag had no sail

Can you believe enough?
And though Diana calls to you
She will never never yield
Every siren has her spot

Four hundred million
Oh that was very far
Robert sweet Onion

Makes me feel so tired
Another layer and layers and layer, oh no
Robert can you find your way?
Show me the way to come

Zugzwang got me in a way
Under my opposing thumb
Brandishing my shield

Robert leads me into thought
Into the dimming blue
Nowhere in this world

For this old Jack-Tar
Three cheers for Robert
To the cinnabar
One ponders

Layers and layers and layers and
Layers and layers and layers and
Layers and layers and layers and
Layers and layers and layers and

Robert, Robert, Robert

One of my favorites he's ever written! Fantastic chord progression, clever lyrics, simple yet effective outro guitar part, the whole band firing on all cylinders, one fucking take...the build up at the end is incredibly cathartic. LAYERS AND LAYERS...

What a great, epic song.

well said Arm Arm Arm. the song oracle would be proud!

I LOVE THE ONION ANOLOGY!! and the building and building of the song like a rocket ship getting ready to launch! four, three, two, one..blast off! brilliant song. there are so many great things to this song...my 12 year old daughter is currently studying poetry in music.... guess what artist i suggested she check out?!!

"The onion is the stripper of metaphors - layer upon layer of mystique with no certain end. The truth is, it is the journey to the core that makes the tease."

Best acrostics ever. Robert The Case For Mars Zubrin.

Love the song, it's like 'Snakes' cooler more handsome older brother.

Probably my favourite album.

brilliant song writing! anyone read the book the case for mars? i haven't but recently read elon musk's biography. very interesting guy..thought the book was fascinating. for those that aren't aware he wants to colonize mars. i wonder if frank drives a tesla or has met elon.

One of those FBF songs that I wish were longer.

There are some that I wish were shorter, but this is not one of them.

Too bad they never extended the outro live.

Picture Dave playing the guitar line, then perhaps Frank taking it up an octave, maybe Rich doing something interesting on the keys while Scott taps along...that goes on for a while and slowly they shift back to the intro chords, Scott adding a single bass drum to build tension before they race back into the intro chords, playing 'em over and over, maybe Dave taking a solo, building up to an explosive over the top finish.

cheers

Is there a thread somewhere that lists all his songs that refer to Mars?

Every time I see a Mars movie (like this new one coming out called "Life") I wish that they would use an FBF song, at least in the credits.

I saw the final Catholics show In London in 2003 and i'm pretty sure the outro was extended.
I noticed as the non fanatical amongst us starting the applause before the song was over.

I must have listened to Robert Onion hundreds of times but today for the first time I heard EDF playing his piano parts like Devo's Gut Feeling.

It was an amazing moment for me!
