Nice image work, does not fit the music at all (...except for the part at 1:48 which is pretty neat !).

Hmm..quite like that. Not a massive fan of Classic Masher but it's funny how a video can enhance a song sometimes, breathe new life into it or make you respond to it differently.

So we've had Paz and Black Francis' videos. Are we going to get Joey and Dave's next?

I didn't get that far before I pressed pause and clicked on another tab. I find myself becoming more and more underwhelmed by all of the new Pixies music videos these days.

I was pretty excited when I saw the Chagga making pic. But the result was also a bit underwhelming to say the least.

Videos are not my thing anyway. Except for Velouria, of course. Everybody loves Velouria.

Fuck yeah, Velouria is the best music video ever in the history of everything.

Lo-fi is definitely the winning formula when it comes to indie videos. I like a video if it works, but 99% of the time it's just eye noise. A lot of really good indie bands discredit themselves by spending loads of money on a slick video produced by some company that specialises in these things, and it usually just doesn't work. I don't like it when they start speeding things up in general, but slowing things down can be a simple way to create an interesting effect.

I'd like to make a parody of this video someday, shouldn't take long. Stick on a checked shirt and some blue jeans, get three other people...

p.s. I also liked the video to Here Comes Your Man where they just open their mouths at the bit where they are singing. Another lo-fi simple idea.

If u connect to Apple music (they have a 3-month trial I think), you'll see an alternate take of the Velouria video. Discovered this last year when I suscribed to their trial. With the band making some sort of choreography.

The apple music thing they launched a year ago. You have to suscribe to use it (or you can try it for 3 months I think).

I'll look into that pics, do the trial and see that. Looks interesting, never seen that photo before.

The whole blue jean and red checked shirt combo, by half coincidence I wore that at the 2007 Nijmegen FBF tour, with a 2004 Pixies tour t-shirt and before he put the acoustic down he was talking to the crowd and he looked right at me when he was saying it, which made me feel really uncomfortable because as it turned out I was the only person that night who turned up with not only a Pixies or Frank Black t-shirt but also had the same outer clothes on as the band in the 80's.

Bossanova was always the nostalgia one for me, and Velouria always takes me back to my first days of uni in the student bar, surrounded by the kind of goth girls I had never seen before up until that time.

I think it's a shame that Charles, Black Francis went more for the black dress code. I'm not sure why. Maybe he feels conscious of his weight?

He doesn't have to though, he should know that we all love him regardless. We are all who we are, shape, clolour and whatever else is important.

I think he would look alright sporting an old thready checked shirt combo though, in fact I think it would be nice if more people wore old clothes and let them grow into you rather than the other way about

Thats a capture I took from the video.

Dunno how this take ended up there. Either 2 versions were made back then, or there was a bug and the record company gave an alternate version by mistake.

I twitted the video to Joey last year and he retwitted it back.

Always nice to discover some easter eggs like this now and then.
