A fast-paced rock song about archaeology. Somehow it seems only our FB could pull something like that off. It's one of my favourites.

But this saying always comes to mind when I listen to the lyrics: "In Europe, 100 miles is a long way. In America, 100 years is a long time."

So where he sings about the child from the people of the corn and it's been 800 years since this child was born, as if that's somehow prehistory, I tend to add a 0 to that number in my mind. That's more like it. 8000 years ago is about when agriculture was spreading into Europe.

OTOH, were there even "people of the corn" in America 800 years ago? I thought the English imported agriculture some 400 years ago.

Unfortunately I got no idea that could help, but on a side note I just appreciate such a discussion can happen due to Frank's great and unusual topics in numerous songs.

Corn is native to Central and South America.
There were people living on corn in those areas.
They mixed earth (lime?) in with the corn to break it down.
If you don't do that, it isn't a healthy diet.

There is some evidence that their culture and practices spread
North up the Mississippi, but that could just be from trading or
it could be bad archeology, I'm not sure.
