Nice find ! Pretty cool.
BF seems to enjoy french south coast (Down in Toulon). He also mentioned old Marseille as his favourite city to play in his last Q&A. And he sings about the Tramontane (wind blowing towards southern France) in Um Chagga Lagga.
French-themed album ?

Missed one. ;)

Really excited to see these. I checked only the other day so these must be fresh up. Great to see that the album won't likely be comprised of Indie Cindy rejects.
I'm guessing that the song mentioned in Rolling Stone ('Down to Tulom') has either been rejigged as 'Down in Toulon' or was simply misheard by the journalist wrote the article. Who knows?
Frank actually confirmed Um Chagga Lagga came from the Gun Cotton Song cycle, so you can pretty much guarantee that particular song is tied in with The Good Inn, so I wouldn't be surprised if the album as a whole turned out to be Guncotton (aka the soundtrack to The Good Inn). Has anyone managed to grab hold of the book? Didn't someone say there are some clues in there??? |

Sometime around 2010 at Joey's Studio in Los Angeles Charles, Joey and David recorded 10 to 15 demos based around a film idea Charles had had called 'Gun Cotton'. One of these songs was 'Um Chagga Lagga' and another was the music to 'Bagboy', albeit in a different form. According to Josh Frank "Seven of the Good Inn Demo Songs lyrics were used as inspiration for [The Good Inn] and are 'musical scene centrepieces' in the narrative." In a YouTube video he mentions, "...These songs were great... And that’s why I had to have the lyrics in the book". |

The book is very good tbh, everyone should read it if they enjoy BF's warped mind. |

Great work! An exciting development.
I swear I went back and checked the old BMI thread for the link a month or so ago, just to look for any newly registered songs. I just didn't have the patience to sift through the list. I'm glad someone did. Lets hope for some official news soon. |

I'd rather hear a song about Tulum than Toulon. Tulum is heaven on Earth. Toulon is full of old racist people.

Same here. Can't say I've been waiting to read it, more like been too lazy to start it. This gives me some impetus to do so as well. |

Seems to like France in general - Massif Central, Alec Eiffel, Trompe... I love France, myself. I could see myself living pretty happily in Saint-Emilion.

And the French theme continues...
BF's latests teasing tweet: "Saint Denis the Cephalophore"
Who was Denis? The Bishop of Paris. What's a 'cephalophore'? It's Greek for 'Head Carrier'.
So already we can link Alice Prin, Down In Toulon, Head Carrier, Plaster or Paris and Um Chagga Lagga with France. |

Every now and then. Most of the time, he's just retweeting paintings or random articles.

Took a look at the list today and there are a few newer entries I'm curious about. Judging by the BMI work # shown for each song, the newest (highest number) entries are the following:
Song title: ON BMI work# 24009831
Song title: NOW BMI work# 25896310
The only released song with a similar number is Tenement Song with work# 25768786

Thanks Nate. By the way, how do you sort the songs by their ID on the BMI website ?
Last time I checked I ended up copy/pasting every single page into Excel.

Can't say for sure but I suspect those 2 titles may be the titles of other artists who have sampled CT's songs.
Like I say can't say for sure so don't take my word as fact. However I think this may be the case as total song count has been 437 for a while (since the titles like Bogman, Screw Pine etc were added before release of Head Carrier).
I usually check periodically to see if the total has gone up then check title names for new ones but nothing yet. I'll be sure to let you know if I notice any changes. I'm sure there are others who will too that probably have a better method and are able to sort by the id's etc but this seems to work for me!

I was just curious about them, as they hadn't been mentioned here previously. The titles alone suggest they aren't new Pixies songs, but I'm bored and really hoping for some news soon. This is just for conversations sake, haha.
@picpic, I just scrolled through the whole list and paid attention to the highest work#s @sprite, haha, Game On, NOW!! |

Ah cool yeah never looked into those ones before! Had a wee Google and found Now might be a track by Meat Beat Manifesto from 1990 as link below. Never heard of them! Not really keen to listen either haha

So, new album allegedly recorded, and no new songs registered ?
Any explanation ?
Is BMI the only organization to register songs ? Or the new ones were registerd with an alternate name ? (I know there's a bunch of companies registering Black's songs -Rice and beans ? Lone Child ? Thompsons Charles ?). Or maybe they just recorded old songs.
Or maybe theres no new album and they just re-recorded Surfer Rosa for the anniversary edition later this year (noooooooooo!!)

It seems like there are still at least a dozen songs appearing in BMI that haven't been released (based on titles alone). Any news regarding a potential new album would certainly be welcome. -Oddball |

BMI is a publishing/licensing institution. One can also be part of, for example, Warner-Chappell, or ASCAP. It's in part a clerical task to register songs, and can be done at any stage in producing. Data entry is done by the artist or by someone on behalf of the artist; CT may or may not do it himself. Anyway, that's just some context I can provide. Others likely know this stuff more in-depth.

Maybe they want to keep this one quiet compared to the last 2 albums where song titles from BMI and locations from posts were uncovered.
Someone said they were away from Instagram during demo's or something or other, probably the case if an album was recorded?
Also, strange how Wilson appears with news then the forum goes down, never to be heard of again!
But probably they just will wait until closer to the time of release before registering the titles with BMI
Or Wilson has stolen the recordings!
