PUERTO RICO PIXIE
Q. Newer new songs?
A. It’s been since the ’80s since we were able to do new songs and play them at shows. Even with “Indie Cindy” we didn’t do it. We’re going to experiment, maybe do two songs. We have four to pick from.
Four new songs heh heh. Slowly but surely we will piece this whole thing together! |

I read an interview on the PIXIES twitter account with Dave that said the band recorded 12 new songs in LA last month. BOOM!

Correction, he says they WROTE 12 new songs. Still very exciting but a bit different than having recorded them. Which is why they've been going on about testing the songs out on the road during this tour and working out the kinks before laying them down for real. Very intriguing time for the band. Was hoping we'd see a live video of a new track by now but it seems maybe they've only played one once thus far. |

"We have a bout a dozen new tunes, and we’re picking about three or four to play at these shows, just to iron them out. That might be something a Pixies fan would be interested in."
Slight understatement there Dave :) Hopefully they move on from one to two in the upcoming shows.....

http://www.jornada.unam.mx/2015/11/20/espectaculos/a09n1esp?partner=rss In Spanish and the best part WORKING in Pre-production of the new album and they already have 14 to 15 new songs, better than the ones on Indie Cindy.Dave says they might have more by the time Pixies play the Corona Capital Festival (which is this weekend).

Huge! Seems strange he's saying preproduction, and not postproduction since we assume they recorded in Toronto and then went to this studio in Bath

an interview with David before the upcoming Rock-A-Field, talking about having rehearsed Um Chagga Lagga for the tour, the wide age range of fans, about having rehearsed songs very little during the early years, the whereabouts of Surfer Rosa boobs, the emotions and awesomeness of participating in Bowie tribute concert, wanting VU to play at Pixies funeral, not minding playing the favourites, preparing surprisingly little for a gig (he runs on a glass of wine), about enjoying playing, the prospects of moving to Canada, about not taking the time to rest as a factor for breaking up in '93, and the thought of Kim G after Kim D's departure.

So they plan to play the all the classics, plus one or two two new songs on the next tour.
Joey said the same thing a few months ago in another interview.
I wasn't expecting a show full of new songs anyway... but I somehow expected a bit more than that.

Folks, the album won't be out until September if those websites are correct. Would you really expect them to play more than a few new songs that NO ONE has heard before? On festival dates? If the single comes out next week, makes sense that one would be played plus maybe a few of the stronger ones from the new batch. It makes perfect sense. Just because we are excited about Talent and Baals Back doesn't mean festival crowds would give a shit or even enjoy hearing them. |

They're not all festival dates.. And yes, play the new stuff!! I thought the whole point was they didn't want be a nostalgia act, I dont understand why theyre not bored by their own setlists cos they have hammered those songs for years now. |

Or maybe David is just spreading some disinformation Remember the Myles Mangino "setlist" for the previous tour, there were plenty of (then) new songs
