Keeping it short. (I hope someone else from here was there tonight because I'm not the best one to review a show when it comes to specifics like exact setlists and stuff) but here tis
1) I THINK they actually did SEVEN of the news song tonite. Three each from each EP plus "Bagboy". Anyway, it blew my mind to hear so many of the new songs in one show.
2) NJPAC is an excellent venue. high class on the order of like the Beacon in NYC (even better soundwise)
Now, here's the part that I hope someone who was there could tell me if it's just me or.....(or if anyone or my man PixiePunk hears from someone who was there. This is not really a complaint because overall I was thrilledbut
3) The Pixies seemed to have like three big "hiccups" ..(.not in sync, wrong song, wrong key, Paz messed harmony up, etc.....whatever) I'm not good right now on the specifics
4) Frank's voice was not as good as usual or hurtin? something seemed def off.(The screams were 100%, tho)
Anyone? or Ppunk?
Be that as it may, it was still an awesome show |

I'm not really digging the faster tempo on Blue Eyed Hexe. I think the whole beat/cowbell vibe works better at the slower pace that's on the recorded version.... |

More Joey guitar atmospherics in the Blue Eyed Hexe intro. Paz's vocals are high in the mix and sound great on that song.
Great hearing those songs back to back too. |

Would love to hear comments from any peeps who were actually there IN PERSON. Like peeps from this site, who would be more discerning of, aware of, any mistakes , even if they're slight. Again: I LOVED THE SHOW! but thee were a few "hiccups" (as I like to call them.).... or maybe it was just me. haha Re: YouTube videos of shows....Of course I love them & they're invaluable if you couldn't be at a particular show, but as far as the NUANCES, quirks and questions I'm asking about , being there LIVE and listening at the show itself is the most accurate. Anyone there besides me?

They're dispatching Hexe in 2'30, that's a bit too fast to make it groove, I agree

Kinda weird crowd in that: The orch section was all assigned seats. Just the smaller pit sec was GA. And 99% of the people sat the whole show except for the encore. The few that wanted to stand and groove had to go to the sides. There were a lot of empty seats in the tier levels. But we dug it in the 1st tier cuz you could stand & dance all nite ....lots of room. (I canNOT under any circumstances sit for the Pixies OR the Catholics, for that matter) haha. |

Perhaps the emptys were because this was a re-sched show from last week's storm? Oh, and to my man PixiePunk, the Asphalt Orch was fine but it was more intense for us at the Capitol last week cuz we was in the orch and it was a smaller venue |

I thought the show was a lot of fun. One of the more high-energy sets I've seen from them. The show started off insanely fast paced - something like 10/12 songs in 35/40 minutes. At some point the pace slowed down a bit, but the encore of "Tame"/"Debaser"/"Planet of Sound" was pretty righteous.
The venue was great; the crowd was not. Had to break up a potential fist fight next to me between a guy who wanted to stand and the guy behind him mad that he was standing. It wasn't a pretty scene.
FB said afterwards that he "spaced out" a few times on lyrics - perhaps that's what you're referring to simi? From my vantage point, vocals sounded fine. Joey and Dave were excellent as usual. Paz did a really nice job, as well.
I forget the order, but I think these are all the songs they did:
Caribou Vamos Isla de Encanta Ed is Dead Nimrod's Son I've Been Tired Bone Machine Cactus Where Is My Mind? Brick Is Red Debaser Tame Wave of Mutilation Here Comes Your Man Monkey Gone to Heaven Mr. Grieves Crackity Jones La La Love You Hey Gouge Away Ana Planet of Sound Head On UMASS Motorway to Roswell Bagboy In Heaven/Andro Queen Indie Cindy What Goes Boom Blue Eyed Hexe Magdalena Greens and Blues
