Is that a seated venue? So much room at the front it seems. |

'Magdalena' sounds great live these days. Noticeably faster than the recorded version. The harmonies are lovely. |

Magdalena really is becoming one of my favorite Pixies songs, I think it is just so beautiful. If for nothing else Pixies 2.0 is/has been completely worth it just for that song alone.
I love Joey's extended drone intro he does live, it creates an amazing atmosphere for the song before it even properly starts. I wish there was some of that on the studio version. The faster tempo here is working really nicely. I do wish for the ooooh harmonies that BF would sing it lower like he did when they first started playing this live, I think that would sound even better with Paz's high ooohs. Right now they are both singing high and although it blends nicely i'd like to hear more of a harmony.
Great vids, thanks for gathering and posting these as always pixie punk. |

Hexe is quite a bit faster too. Prefer it that way. |

I don't know, Silver Snail seems so damned boring to me. Can't get into it, nothing dynamic about it. |

I agree this version was a bit boring However, the song has potential, it relies on other things than just dynamics. It has atmosphere, moody guitars, howls. The drumming is a bit uninspired, but hey, David is fully in his minimalistic mode right now and his drumming is not manic as before, it's almost bare on songs like Snail, Magdalena, Greens & Blues.
I like what he does on Bagboy, Boom and Indie Cindy though

This was a great show. Funny review from fuse, pretty sure they did not play another toe, but did play Greens and blues, which was awesome and the highlight of the new material. Magdalena was slow and boring and was the first new one they played. Hexe fit in great, Indie Cindy was great. Would love to see In Heaven/Andro open; they work great together.
I was super psyched to see Motorway. Gouge Away, Planet of Sound was probably the best encore I have ever seen.

I'm very glad to see the "This ain't no planet..." backing vocal line return to this song after being oddly absent during Ms. Shattuck's tenure.
It's the only time the Pixies ever reminded me of the first couple of B-52's LPs. That's a good thing in my book.

As am I Peter. I feel silly for even noticing it. Not sure Madame Deal sang that line live either. One of my favorite parts of of the song. |

I loved BF's delivery on Planet. It was like he was telling a story. And oh so rockin. My wife was concerned the balcony was going to come down. I was pretty sure it was going to hold, but it was definitely bouncing up and down.
