Hi everyone,
On the @theactualpixies twitter feed, it looks like we see Black Francis singing a snippet from "Ring the Bell". Thoughts? Eminent EP2? Was this one of the songs scheduled to appear on it?

Alright! Now we're talking! Sounds interesting to me. Can't wait.
Did the Blue Eyed Hexe Vine come out before EP-1? Can't remember.
It would be cool if Ring The Bell and maybe another as-yet-unheard track accompanied say Blued Eyed and Magdalena/Greens and Blues on EP-2. |

i don't think it means it'll be on EP2. as nate mentioned, the blue eyed hexe clip proceeded EP1.
really glad to see frank posting some new music though! release the kraken, monsieur black.
i'm pretty confident that greens and blues will anchor EP2. it'll be the indie cindy, the first single. i'd be happy to be wrong if they hit us with another song as strong, but it just seems like a flagship for new pixies. it utterly sounds like them but it also sounds new. |

One of my favourite albums ever. And to totally underscore your point: That Dog is recording new material.

Someone must've posted that at the same time I was typing mine.
It does look/sound like he's saying "Ring the Bell". It's so hard to judge a song by a few seconds though. Definitely sounds kind of spacey though. Was hoping for EP2 for Christmas. Maybe we'll have in January though...

Now the link has died completely. Wonder why it was taken down? Really odd activity lately from the band.

probably the manager. i was reading a magazine article not long ago (filter?) and frank explicitly says, "our manager tells us the album is dead". whoever the manager or management is... they're posing problems. |

Joey also has a tendency to post-and-delete many tweets. Last ones were about the bass player drama.

Manager should shut the hell up, and Pixies should let us listen to the whole damn album however they please. If that's EP by EP, fine - but that seems totally counter to the way Frank usually operates.
The four songs at a time piecemeal shit feels totally unnatural. They're taking recordings from a very specific time and place and dribbling them out a chunk at a time, instead of letting this cohesive work function as an artifact of that time and place. It's annoying, feels like we're getting teaser trailers for a movie that we'll never see.
And each song ends up so over scrutinized as a result. If Another Toe were buried in a 15 song album, people wouldn't have paid attention to it, and then one day it would click for them. Instead, as song #2 of a 4 song EP, it suddenly becomes the most hated song of all Pixies-time. |

This hits the nail in the head. One could argue that the pressure and scrutiny of releasing an album's worth of songs would be less ferocious than having people nit-pick about every single aspect of the songs on the EPs... If song #1 or song #2 seem like misses, the EP is instant shit.
So yeah, album all the way. Dead format or not. |

well in 98% sure EP2 will be out on the 7th or 14th, so we'll be able to judge more songs very, very soon. |

I thought for sure they'd be out tomorrow. Why do you feel the 7th or 14th? |

i figure they'll want to clear the holidays. no big press tomorrow or over christmas. the other thing is their managers will want it out around the beginning of the tour and when the publications are back in gear. so the 7th or 14th sound realistic and OK business wise to this dude's mind.
plus, video a month.
but you never know. it could be out tomorrow or friday or whenever. just a trying to be educated guess on my part.

albums released in the first few months of the year typically don't do as well as other releases later in the year. they should have tried to beat the holiday spending spree. but 5000 copies will go quickly; i'm gonna order 2 this time to 2 different addresses cause i'm paranoid lightning might strike twice.
