Two pages in the new Mojo. A nice spread with a good photo of our four beloved Pixies.
Some interesting quotes:
'Frontman Black Francis reveals that "12, maybe 15" new tracks have been recorded.' The plan is to release these in batches.
Songs are about Saturn and Edward Teach, aka the pirate Blackbeard.

BF: "Pixies is more pschological. The characters in the songs aren't too locked into 2012 - they live on an abstract plain"
About KD: "She signed up for the making of these recordings/ But then she excused herself. There was no argument or any creative struggle or something like that. She had her personal reasons. It was all amicable. "
The writer then concludes that Kim takes care of her mother, who has Alzheimers disease (as anyone who listens to Mountain Battles knows btw). The writer doesn't say that's THE reason she's not on the recordings, however.

| Makes sense, no way they had 30 songs in the can at this stage. It's good though, now they can get Kim in on the tracks still being worked on, and we can see what the chemistry between the 4 looks like on record. I'm intrigued by what she will bring in terms of energy and female presence. |

| But the 30 count was including the demos, probably the ones recorded on his laptop and those recorded with the piano in Joey's studio. In total it could match 30, but it's not recorded pixies song. By the way, i bet it is the same era Charles recorded that B side with a piano as the main instrument; telling the chords changes; it's a pretty unusual song. Cant remember the title. It was on Ababuba. |

Yeah, I said that because I think that earlier interview where he mentions 30 songs had some thinking that was the number of finished songs they had. Makes sense that they knocked a dozen out and have sketches or demos for the rest. Charles said these were the best of those songs though, so I wonder what the other demos sound like.
Transmarine had said he heard about 16-18 demos, so I guess we may or may not ever hear some of those completed. |

| I dont trust him at all to find out what are his best song. Anyway it's a subjective point, but in his case it's like the artist doesnt have any distance to evaluate his own work. Apart from Massif Central and In the time of my ruin, i never liked the songs he mentioned as the best tracks of an album. |
