thanks Yarbles and Ziggy

Bagboy is impressive : Joey does it really right, and BF screams out of his lungs, + Kim's voice is cool

What Goes Boom is massive too, great energy

Finally hearing Joey's guitar on Greens And Blues is a joy, and sounds a bit like I could have imagined, which is quite satisfactory :)

Blue Eyed Hexe is not really as I expected, sounds a bit "forced"

other Pixies classic tracks, I should listen to again... but I've Been Tired and Wave Of Mutilation are good for a warm-up show

Yeah, I'd expected Blue Eyed Hexe and Greens & Blues to be a bit faster, for some reason. Looking forward to hearing the studio versions though.

Anyone know where this was first announced/heard about? They are touring here soon so might be a good idea to look out for something like happening. Maybe they will do a surprise gig or two here, I'd jump on a train to Glasgow for that at short notice. Alternatively they could be rad and play two cities in Scotland.

An email from the band went out about 12:30 in the afternoon... subject line said LA TONIGHT, and the email said:

Hello

We are playing a special warm up show TONIGHT in LA.

Friday, Sept 6 @ ECHO

Doors at 7pm / Pixies on stage 7:45pm

18+

$10.00 ticket

Tickets are available right now:

http://www.ticketfly.com/purchase/event/368905?utm_medium=bks

Access code: BAGBOY

La La love you

PIXIES

I saw the email 8 minutes after it was sent out and tix were already gone. I posted an ad on craigslist saying I was looking for an extra ticket and some nice guy said I could buy his. Made my year. At the venue people were saying only about 50 tickets were for sale, the rest were for friends/family/guests of the band.

So, sign up for the official Pixies email list and be ready to act if/when an email comes out. I think I clicked on the email subscription thing back when i downloaded Bagboy or bought the new EP from the band, can't quite remember.

I'm on the official email list, but how do they know where I live? I didn't get this email that went round.

It's the whole Obama wire tapping thing. Everyone knows where everyone is these days.

I didn't get the email about the secret London gig that went out the other day either...

Might be the last vid i upload from the show, looks like other recordings of the same songs I recorded are already on youtube.

Winterlong http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bjvrl_34t_A

Good example of New Kim's presence in the band in this clip.

Really enjoyed the B&W What Goes Boom vid especially Frank's howl at the start. I think that is going to become an epic live song. Not going to watch Blue Eyed Hexe/Green & Blues. Want to experience it for the first time at Brixton. Like the way they ended with Indie Cindy. I can see that working as good closer on many sets.

I uploaded my video of Brick is Red, as well as made a playlist of all the vids of this show I could find on Youtube, in order of the setlist. There's only a few songs that no video has popped up for yet (Head On, Here Comes Your Man - Aborted, Where is My Mind, Vamos and Indie Cindy) Enjoy!

thank you, yarbles. i love you, yarbles.

that was the first i'd heard of blue eyed hex and greens & blues. loved them both. G&B is like letter to memphis! goddamn, i'm pumped.

i can't get enough of EP1, and these two have me at indefinite full chub.

Thanks much to yarbles, and others for sharing the videos and comments. Much appreciated. The new songs sound good, though it seemed Hexe and G&B were a bit repetitive. Closing with Indie Cindy shows how confident they are with it.

yawp. i think there'd be less negative hubbub if the songs were recorded truer to their live incarnations.
