Found out about this from a tweet by @mrblackfrancis last night- The Pixies (yes the BBC called them The Pixies, not Pixies) were the specialised subject of one of the contestants on Mastermind. I never watch this but checked out that bit on BBC iPlayer, if you are in the UK you can watch it there now.

The guy was straight off the mark with the answers, and so was nearly I. They were pretty easy questions actually and probably most Pixies fans would get about 50% right I reckon. Not sure if that's technically cheating, some of them were a bit tough. What kind of questions could you ask that are really tough though?

I might watch it later and post up the questions for the benefit of non-UK members, so that's a possible spoiler alert for the next thread.

In which American city were the Pixies formed in 1986 by Charles Thompson who adopted the stage name Black Francis?

The Pixies first studio session were recorded in 1987 on a demo cassette that became widely known as what because of the colour of it's cover?

which London based indepedent record label released the bands 8 track mini album called Come on Pilgrim?

What was the name of the first Pixies album to enter the UK album chart containing the singles Monkey Gone to heaven and Here Comes Your Man?

In which Asian capital was the guitarist Joey Santiago born in 1965?

There's the first five it's hard to type all this, long questions and he talks really fast... I'll do the rest later

Wowzers! Shit, I've caught a couple of Classic Mastermind episodes lately, haven't seen any new episodes. The BBC iPlayer is still not available in Ireland, this episode is gone anyway. Not on YouTube as yet.

Here's a guy getting a perfect run on the subject of Alan Partridge!

Sorry I didn't write out the rest of the questions. I thought they could have been a bit harder. It's hard to find BBC and CH4 stuff elsewhere on the internet they keep a tight lock on their shit, you can't even do screen dumps anymore.
