What do you call a freak storm at a beer festival?
Hurricane Shandy
p.s. American beer sucks.
THIS is beer
My last brew. Had to stop making them so I could fit in my trousers again. Work in progress. By the time Xmas comes along I'll have a six pack. If only I had some proper weed I wouldn't drink nearly so much.

again, obviously you don't much about beer. and you've definitely never been to the United States

Wrong and wrong.
I've been to Florida and oh man, the beer sucked so bad there. Miller lite, bud lite and all that. Nachos with rubber cheese. Chinese take aways that didn't taste of anything....
but yes there are some micro breweries springing up all over the place these days and yes I have sampled some of their beers, while i was in Holland, and no it didn't match the quality and taste of real ales you get over here.
Our food is better, our beer is better, but you are definitely in the lead so fas as marijuana goes, so that's 2-1 to us.

but... we beat you at beer styles you invented.
if you willingly went to Florida (no offense to Florida) and all you ate was hot dogs and bud light you only have yourself to blame. actually even aflorida has some great cuisine.

I had no choice in the matter. I have family there and there was a wedding. Most boring 3 weeks of my life. Did enjoy banana banshees on the beach, nearly getting shot (probably) and visiting a number of 'dollhouses in ft lauderdale' ... oh and I gatecrashed a film award ceremony on the beach without either me or anyone else there realising I wasn't on the guest list. Free drink and a few stars, they all walked past me on the way out Fairuza Balk, Nick Nolte and Robert Wise, probably some photos somewhere of them leaving with me in the background being all Forest Gump.
Meh, judges can judge what they like. My own personal taste is for English ales. Best in the world. I'm sure there are plenty of good local brews over there I have never tasted, it's a lot to do with locality to the brewery as well. I'm not really that keen on Belgian beers, but German beers OTOH
And people in the UK don't live on beans on toast! They eat kebabs and vindaloos, proper British cuisine.

Pot's right about one thing -- they're not so enlightened about beer in Florida. As a good Colorado boy (our governor is a famed microbrewer, and you can't swing a dead cat here without hitting a craft brewery), I discovered that the hard way when I ordered a flight of local brews somewhere in Orlando. Don't judge American beer by your one experience, pot. Colorado, California, the Pacific Northwest -- all are hotbeds of craft beer. See if you can't attend a family wedding in one of these places. |

Would be nice. All my family live in boring places of America though. I've also been to Massachusettes, New York and East Coast of Canada when I was young. I am possibly looking for a cute stoner chick from the the Pacific coast to marry, for some reason they all seem to love Scottish guys over there. This is part of the reason why I have so much family over there. I'm not sure I'd get through customs these days though I might get pulled aside and questioned on my twitter feed lol
And I see Colorado is going to vote on possession of small amounts of marijuana for RECREATIONAL purposes, along with Washington and Oregon. Finger's crossed..

Denver. The Mile High City. Home of the Great American Beer Festival, Coors Field, and a bunch of craft breweries, including the Wynkoop Brewpub. |
