I've loved the reunion tours and the Doolittle Tour and been fortunate to see them three times now. Dream come true. I would go and see them play if they did b-sides and Bossonova/TLM songs but each time I've seen them its been an almost identical setlist each time. I fear going into 2011 that without a new batch of songs the Pixies will tarnish their legacy by, well, flogging a dead horse.
they're playing plenty of b-sides though: in heaven, wave of mutilation (uk surf), into the white, winterlong, and then four more during the doolittle tour. there aren't that many b-sides left besides these. and they are playing a good deal of bossanova and trompe le monde songs too. they weren't back in 2004, but they've added many over the years.
i agree it's a lot of the same if you go see multiple shows, and i definitely don't have to see that every year. but it's been a while now. i wouldn't mind another pixies gig later this year, and i don't care if they keep fishing songs from the same pond.
I'd like the chance to see them play some songs from the latter two albums live. You could count the number of times I've heard them play a song from Bossanova or TLM on one seven-fingered hand.
