I know a little bit.

I've left a few notes out because I'm not sure where or if they're played.
The "palace of the brine" chorus progression is played at the 17th fret but
I've been tinkering on an old 5 string acoustic and can't reach past 12, so I've tabbed it at the 5th.

The chords that I hear are D# G# and A#. They can be played as open D, G, and A with a capo on the first fret.

Yep, sounds perfect. Love it with a capo on the first fret, like the album. 'Letter to Memphis' is another where they did it. Lets the open D chord ring beautifully, yet still in a 'better' key.

I wish I'd paid attention years ago in music class. Would be nice to play this stuff. That's all I can bring to the discussion.

heh. you only need three strings on your guitar to play this one, if you have one.

My music teacher made us sing "When I'm 64'. Took me years after to understand why. I was listening to Top 40 nonsense at the time.

[oh yeah. d-tune/tune guitar up half a step/or add capo/whatever]

A knockout to rival Pong and Thalassocracy. Letter to Memphis, Trompe Le Monde, Alec Eiffel and Motorway to Roswell are 4 of the very best.
