I wonder if that will have a significant effect on global temperatures for a few years or if it just settles out pretty quickly.

I learned yesterday that a volcanic eruption in 1783 was one of the causes of the French revolution. There was a huge eruption that provoked many deaths by sulfuric gas and important changes in the weather that brought famine to France and played a part in the uprising. It's all explained there:

Have you been following developments (if any) darwin? What's the latest?

I was surprised there wasn't a plan already in place to use UAV technology to gather more data.

Katla didn't blow yet. Phew!
