With apologies to the Song Oracle and gotmeamovie ...
This is probably the song I play the most off of The Golem. I love the music, the theremin (I think), the lyrics -- especially the myrrh and reddish-brown part -- but what I really love is the part of the song where Florian is falling to the ground, like the end of Angels Come to Comfort You. It took me a lot of listens (and one watching of the movie) to notice that.
What's cool is that the song foreshadows what happens to Florian later in the movie (when the line of force takes its course). The song comes on near the beginning, when Miriam and Florian meet. I'm guessing the "reddish brown" refers partly to Florian's hitting the dirt when he's thrown from the roof by the Golem (red=blood; brown=dirt). At least that's how I like to think of it.
Miriam and Florian when no one's around long black curls and small white pearls together found lovers drowned
Miriam loved Florian and his white horse she thinks of them especially when the line of force takes its course
Florian loved Miriam her reddish brown he thinks of her smelling myrrh and her reddish brown when he went down
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

great points! one of my fav's as well. the foreshadowing is very well done- the ending part of the song...it's get's so dark and spooky you feel something bad is going to happen. the roff toss is a tough way to leave this world.
"I joined the Cult of Frank/ cause I'm a real go-getter!"...long live snitz!! |

This is definately one of my favourites off the album. I think its one of the best/unique melodies charles has ever put together. And how awesome are EDF's keys in this? My girlfriend is really thrilled about this song because her name is miriam, and i dont think the miriams of the world ever thought they'd get a song |

Love all the points made in this thread. What to add? I love the 30 secs of Bad News Theme that precede the song when it plays in the movie. And don't forget the heavy breathing during Miriam and Florian Theme. It's all good.

I've yet to pay this one any attention (makanujo, you're gonna pay, maharal [when that kicks in after 15 odd seconds...yeah!)] on constant).
I'm gonna go listen now and ponder. |

a beautiful song that's sound is distinctly Der Golem. I Know little about organs or keys but EDF's foot work, at least in my ear can be heard, and Duane Jarvis' guitar is perfect, he played this record like it was well, you know. Then at 2:45 Jason Carter lets loose before Charles breaks things down and then, out. And the bass player obviously, by not being obvious fills it all out. A great band! Then this track is followed by Stars Theme, the craft is almost to much to comment on. I sound silly.
Miriam and Florian, was the song that sold me on Der Golem. I thought, this is different and that is good. |
