Wow, genuine Doolittle out-take! Where did this come from?!

Thanks, that's a great finding. I foresee the day we'll find the Trompe Le Monde demos.

where does the tag "1989 rehearsal" come from? is it really from back then, and not from rehearsals for the doolittle tour, for example?
it's educational |

I wrote the tag (sorry for the spelling mistake). It comes from a tape I got about 10 years ago and recently resurrected. It is definitely from the Doolittle era, as you can tell by the reference to the demo version, the only one existing at the time and recorded for The Breeders. |

great historic document!
1) is the guy's voice gil norton's voice? 2) why is he complaining about her singing - i think she sings like an angel

To be honest I think Franks voice is godawful on this demo and on the released version. Truly, truly is weakest vocal to date. Saying that Kim is singing it wrong seems a bit ironic. Jumping to the conclusion: this may be exactly what was wrong with the pixies.

It's very interesting, at least!
Wasn't the song recorded really late in the session, actually whilst the rest of the album was being mixed? |

Just to weigh in here... I like the final version of this song on the album. Both Frank's and Kim's vocals are fine by me. Interesting to hear the short bit regarding Frank thinking Kim's voice was too hard on this take. So what is that slidy guitar sound on this song, a dobro guitar? |

yeah, i was thinking the same thing. it's very unlikely that they would talk about a ten-year old demo version these days. (if anything, they ask someone at the rehearsal studio if he has the album version on his ipod, so that they can check how the song went again.)
it's educational |

I agree too. And in terms of sounds, this appears to be identical to the released version (the reverbed drum, the slides, etc.), like really an "outtake" or perhaps an actual "run-through" before attempting anything for real. which fits the comments.
Of course, apart from The Breeders recording, at least one more demo existed at that point, being on the widely circulated Doolittle Demos. |

I don't really see a big deal in their discussion. It is not that harsh to ask the co-singer to sing softer. I've been in a few bands and such suggestions are often thrown about. I somehow doubt this is the worst it got between them. |

Well all that does is pose the question of "what else was on the tape?" :) haha. Thanks though, will listen once I get through this runthrough of Doolittle itself. Been a little while! |

I hate to do this, but I too have not heard anything of this outtake until now. Does anybody care to post it again?
