First time in history a song has made it to Xmas number one based on downloads alone, and the highest selling download track of all time apparently.
Fuck you Cowell and your retarded show.
Happy Xmas.

I was really glad to hear that it outsold the X Factor single (and with just downloads at that!).
I made sure I bought it, it was getting seriously irritating hearing a new terrible song top the charts every Christmas. I don't even care about the charts to be honest, but I'd rather hear RATM on those 'Christmas No. 1' playlists every year than Joe McElderry.
I think this was a rare occurance though. After RATM topping the charts, can you imagine the amount of Facebook groups next year!?
Who's gonna start the 'Let's get Frank Black & The Catholics to No.1' group?

I did that Shine, but it didn't work. I used the button on the post reply page.
EDIT well it seemed to work fine that time...

What made me laugh was Cowell going on about it, saying it will spoil it for them not for him. Well, first off Joe has just won the X Factor, he is 18, handsome, now sought after by every 18 year old girl in the country and a millionaire on top of it. Getting the number 2 spot for Xmas is hardly going to ruin his fucking life!
Secondly, Cowell speaks as though getting the number one spot is somehow a right for the winner of the X Factor. It wouldn't matter what pish they chrun out at the end of this program, it would still make the number one spot! So why is this any different than a bunch of middle aged ex rockers putting their vote on RATM?
It's no different, is it. And this whole thing has proved that people are getting tired of the same old pish year in, year out. Let's have some artists who actually worked hard to make their music get the vote for a change.
Next year though, I reckon the X Factor is going to go more alternative, they will jump on the bandgwagon mark my words... but it'll be watered down commercial alternative. Cheryl Cole was on the TV last saturday getting interviewed, because she is now a well established celeb who has something to talk about her 'career' in 'music'. She said that quote: 'I also like indie music, not a lot of people realise that but I do',, and then went on to quote bands like fucking Snow Patrol!
So that's what it'll be next year. There'll be no more Robbie Williams and George Michaels, it's going to be Snow Patrol and The Arctic monkeys and wank like that... |

I think that too, and people will buy into it because they don't know any better. It was funny how that bloke with the afro in this years X Factor was praised for being 'different' and 'alternative'. Look forward to loads of 'edgy' rockers next year singing 'Sex on Fire'.

I think RATM is currently second in ireland next to the x factor guy. A double RATM number one would be so awesome

I don't normally go for the brown eyes, but in her case I'd definately make an exception. |
