I thought since we have now entered the last 1% of the first decade of the new millennium it would be fun for everyone to post their favourites from a number of categories, the one song or album or whatever... that stands out among all the rest. Feel free to add any more categories you think of.
Frank Black Album- Svn Fngrs Frank Black Song- Threshhold Apprehension Frank Black Gig- Doornroosje, Nijmegen, 5th July 2007

Of course there was that big argument 10 years ago because the end of the millennium was not 1999. But no one will argue that it is the end of the 2000s, if not the end of the decade! Or does this decade have 9 years?
I am not able to answer these at the moment.
DITS and BLD are in this decade.
You should specify non FB Song and album!
I've seen very few gigs this last decade, but that last FB&C gig at Le Rendezvous here in Winnipeg with Dave Lovering stands out in my mind.
It's sad that some festival I haven't gone to would be my choice over the few I have.
Film, oh bother. Another section of pop-culture I have avoided. Everything I can think of was in the 90's. The only one that I can even remember being interested in is Guy Maddin's My Winnipeg, and it's not the type of thing that would be a top pick.
Wikipedia has a year in film list, it's not very good after 2004. I think Episode II for me.
TV shows, I only like comedies, what else can I pick. The best non-comedy of the last decade for me was Tall Ship Chronicles, or some science documentary!
The nominees for comedy so far are the Chris Isaak Show, Reno 911, Puppets Who Kill.

Looks like the NME agree with me on my song of the decade, MGMT Time To Pretend. They have it at number two though, although they have put Beyonce at number 1....
http://www.nme.com/list/100-tracks-of-the-decade/158050/page/10
How they almost get it right, yet get it so catastrophically wrong?
Anyway, I love that song by MGMT, I just feel so decadent and free when I listen to it. It makes me want to run away to India and live in an ashram smoking chillums all day, something I have been pondering consistently for that past 8 years of life.

There are few songs you can really say that about...
My favourite year was 2001, kind of all went down hill from there LOL |
