I had never really given this record a good listen. I knew a few cuts from Ear Bleeding Country (the compilation of Dino music) and my roommate in college had this record but I don't recall listening more than once or twice, if ever all the way through. I found a copy at a friends the other day and threw it on and was stunned at how many songs jumped out. I mean, they all had that familiar Dinosaur Jr./J. Mascis sound, but each track had a unique quality.

You never hear this record mentioned as a stand-out, probably because it came so late in the original run of the band. Anyone else fond of this album?

I've never listened to this album. I'm still looking for a copy.

The other Dinosaur Jr albums were easier to find, because most of them were re-released a couple of years ago.

hand it over is j.mascis swan song with dinosaur. it is totally ambitious & awfully good, and it has failed (in terms of success, way back then).

alone - it is so simple, so predictable, but still terrific and enjoyable each listen.

can't we move this on - perfect demonstartion of mascis fine ear for combining drums and guitar

the (almost) acoustic songs - so sweet

all the other songs - each one is true jewel. but for me it is really hard to pick a favourite album. if i had to take one to the island, it probably would be 'beyond' from the reunion. beyond is unbelievable - they just continued, like there were no 17 years intermission. from the first seconds on this album, you know it won't let you down like so many other reunion records.

lately, also mascis solo albums with the fog are doing it for me. now i really like their more straightforward approach, compared to dino. would love to go to one of the UK fog shows in december, but i will be in the US at this time...

I just listened to two songs from this album (included on Ear Bleeding Country, the Dinosaur Jr best-of), and they're awesome. I need to look harder for a copy of Hand It Over.

The Orange County Register - Dinosaur Jr. looks back at 'Bug' with tour kicking off in O.C.

This is interest...

Waverley Leader - Dinosaur evolves.

“The Pixies are charming.

“They just moved back to town recently.

“I was talking to Frank Black and he said that the first ever alt rock show he went to was a Dinosaur Jr show we played in Amherst.

“And then he went on and started The Pixies.”

That's pretty cool. There was some Husker Du gig that inspired him and Joey too.
