I didn't see a thread for the Seattle show, so apologies if there's already one going.
I have TWO TICKETS to this show which, due to extenuating circumstances, I won't be able to use. And I'm in Portland.
So... if there's someone in Portland to whom I could offload these tickets at face value, between now and Friday afternoon, that would be super duper. I'm heartbroken to miss the show, but I don't want these tickets to go to waste if I can avoid it. |

Yep, danjersey, I could hand off tickets anywhere in the vicinity of Portland city center. I'll have some time this afternoon and evening and tomorrow during the day.
floop, bobo has it right. My stupid handle is meant to indicate that I live in Portland, OR. Co-opting the youth culture shorthand of using an area code or airport code to represent a metropolitan area. "The ATL" and so forth. It's a stupid handle, but I'm sticking with it. |

Was 5 from the front, seemed like a packed house to me. Opening video footage advertised the USB sticks. There was a floating white paper-mache-like 4-part barbell above the stage that lowered and danced for 2 or 3 tunes. BG footage was nice, and they used that 2009 "video" of HCYM during HCYM. BF, all in black, did that thing on every 4th "debaser!" where he cups the mic, as if using the blues mic from that Brixton 91 show. You know what I mean? Kim was the mouthpiece between songs, seemed to say what she's been saying the rest of the tour; "B-sides!", "Here come the deeper, heavier songs" and so on. She was very chipped and had a big grin that was there all night. One of Dave's mini splashes came loose and was down on a tom for a while, it sounded like the drums dropped out for a bit. Joey caught the Vamos stick, but it looked like Dave didn't catch it back. Lots of bows at the end, replete with BG footage of them bowing.
2 encores: UK Surf, Into the White (tons of stage smoke) (tons); Caribou, Gigantic, Vamos
Crowd was very appreciative. Lots of pot fumes. A 7' coughing dude right in front of me was doing an Ian Curtis impersonation all night. Shaking, I mean. Saw one gal bring her young kid all the way to the front. Couple of dudes were there to pick a fight. Saw one guy who looked like he was 55. Which made me feel like the 2nd oldest in the room, at 33 3/4. Went with my best friend who's been into them since the beginning, but had missed every opportunity to see them, and boy was he thrilled. Tonight's show I go with my other best friend (wife!) who hasn't seen them but is aware of the gravitas.
Before the show said friend and I had dinner and at the table next to us was a mirror couple of 30-something dudes. They started chatting about the Pixies and how excited they were. Then they started talking Pixies history and why they broke up and classifying albums (one of the big fans had never heard Come On Pilgrim), and I started thinking about Annie Hall and pontificating... and then about what a snob I am so I had another tequilla, because if those guys weren't talking about the Pixies then I would.... at which point some lunatic guy ran into the restaurant, pointed at me and yelled, "See that guy in the glasses? I'm gonna kill him!" and then ran out. True story.
