Let's try this. Ask any question, see if anyone has an answer.
I've got two for starters.
1. What is Latin for pig-skin. I think it may be either pellis porcarius or porcarius pellis. Who knows Latin?
2. Did you learn to tell time in school? The patent for the split-flap display was in 1966 and early clocks of this type date from about 1969. I'm guessing if you were born in 1965 or earlier you would have been reading clocks before you were in school.
i always thought wyatt earp's moustache was kinda cool:
whhaddya think caused the fall of the Roman Empire?
a plumber friend of mine really believes it had something to do with lead poisoning. That all Roman Aristocrats essentially went nuts. I always thought it lay in the difficulty of paying the legionaires the land they were promised for their service and allowing them to retire. also, with the army away for so long the birth rate was low and there wasn't enough males to take the soldiers place, eventually the centurions just took some land some where in the empire far from rome and stopped doing there "legionairre" duries and became farmers.
The waxworks were an immensely eloquent dissertation on the wonderful ordinariness of mankind.
why just the Romans, i mean, there was the Hellenistic era before that and lots of other empires before and after that and they all kinda fell eventually. doesn't it seem like there's a common factor to that, systematic, i don't know.. something in human nature? something in the way societies work (or stop working)?
I bought 1 lot of jewel cases to replace broken ones about five years ago. I don't break the backs of the cases or the trays very often.
Now I have 40 trays and backs and another 50 or so complete cases.
Have you seen Unbreakable? There must be someone compatible who never breaks the fronts or hinges. Is that you?
I now need 1 "green" (recycled green?) jewel case front for TM's Limbo, 1 solid gold front for Primus' Brown Album (I can't remember ever hearing this). Where do I find those? I don't want 50 of them.
