Hi guys,
Next week I´ll fly to Las Vegas for 5 days, sadly is for business and I won´t have a lot of free time to spend, any touristic place recommended? I don´t like to gamble, I read about an helicopter tour to the grand canyon, it worth?
Where is a good place to buy electronics?
Gracias!!

I just went in August, and didn't go to the Grand Canyon although I've heard pretty good things about the helicopter tours. The only thing is, they are pretty expensive, and most of them can take a good part of your day.
I did rent a car and drive to the Hoover Dam. It's worth seeing, but if you drive, leave as early in the day as you can because when we were going back to Las Vegas there was a giant line of traffic waiting to get the dam (like a few miles worth).
The shows are fantastic there (such as the Cirque De Soleil, Blue Man Group, etc). Years ago I saw the Cirque De Soleil "Mystere" show which was wonderful. This last visit I saw their show "Ka" which is definitely worth it. My 9 year old liked Blue Man Group quite a bit (I thought it was good too), and we also saw Phantom (it's good). I heard great things about Jersey Boys show, but they didn't recommend for kids so we didn't see it. It's one of the top-rated shows there. Oh, and Cirque De Soilei's "O" is supposed to be good as well, but it was shut down when we were there. Just to stress it: I LOVE Cirque De Soleil shows. If you have never seen one then definitely check out either Mystere or Ka. (The Chris Angel one is not as good from what my friend (and guide book ratings) said).
If you are interested in shows, I would buy Cirque De Soleil in advance of your trip (like right now!). The other shows: you can buy tickets at a place called Tix4Tonight which has a few branches around town. The one I went to is at Fashion Show Mall on the strip. Basically, you get there as close to when they open as you can, and they sell half price tickets to the shows for that night and sometimes for the next night as well. It takes some coordination so you can get there in the morning before they open (and a line forms pretty quickly) but if you are interested in multiple shows and may go back to the place, you can pay for VIP line access for $10 or $20 which will save some waiting in line. That's where I bought the Blue Man Group and Phantom tickets, and was going to buy Jersey Boys tickets (it's a Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons music story). I'd also buy the best tickets you can afford instead of skimping-think it makes the show better especially with the broadway shows like Phntom.
Electronics? Hmmm. I know there is an Apple Store in that same Fashion Show Mall, and I think at the Forum Shops by Ceasars as well. Maybe in the Town Square Mall which is farther down the strip past the Luxor. Don't know what electronics you are looking for but there is a ton of shopping all over the strip at those cool shopping malls.
Where are you staying?
If you have any questions, just ask.

Hi, I have only been to Las Vegas once and it was a long time ago. I don't know if they do this for individuals and not groups, but there was a group from work that got to drive race cars on a race track. I don't have the details for it though.
I also don't know any good places to buy electronics for sure. But there is a national chain called Best Buy that's pretty good.
Have fun ccuadros! |

just did a google search for Las Vegas Concerts: here is one link:
http://www.lvol.com/events/concerts.html
Looks like U2 is playing 10/23. Their current tour is really cool (albeit very staged) with the $40 million stage they have. I would only recommend the general admission floor tickets if you are tall enough. People that were up high in the stadium here in Dallas show had a bad time and bad sound, but we were close and it was really cool looking (and I was a big U2 fan back in the day).

Never split 10s and hit on 16 if the dealer is showing more than 7 or higher. |

What happens in Vegas stays on your conscience forever.
haha.
Super, did you go to the Skywalk at the Grand Canyon? I'm sure it's a symbol for taxing the view, but I still think I would go.
My friend always says he would love to see the pawn shops.

don't increase your bet when you're down. this is good advice that i never follow
if you're not planning on drinking and gambling excessively or going to strip clubs i can't really help you. i know the roller coaster at NY NY is fun. the ride on top of Stratosphere is fun too.
there are actually quite a few good restaurants in Vegas. i've had many good meals at the steakhouse at the Paris. there's a Nobu in Vegas now (famous sushi restaurant from Los Angeles).. Spago. i think the Bellagio buffet is semi overrated. if you really want to pig out on a buffet, Paris is better in my opinion.
Vegas is also a great place to go if you ever have the inkling to withdraw all your money from your bank account, purchase sacks of cocaine, hire a few hookers (of mixed ethnicity) and drink yourself to death |

Don't eat at Circus Circus, but the dogs and Heineken's next door at Slots of Fun aren't a bad deal. |

No, I still haven't been to the Grand Canyon ever, but that Skywalk looks freakin cool.
The grand Canyon bus/helicopter rides were gonna be like $700 + for me and my son I think it was, so I blew off doing them.
I want to go back with an adult mainly for the restaurants as well. Ate at Tao which was good, but not radically different from what I can get here in Dallas.

that's kind of like the "California Adventure Park" at Disneyland. it's a 'California'-themed park that includes Disneyfied replicas of many California sight-seeing destinations (including the Venice Beach boardwalk)
you know, so you don't have to actually go to those places |

where are you staying ccuadros?
i forgot to mention, on the restaurant front. Border Grill is also good (another transplant from LA). also, out of towners are often fond of In N Out burger. there's a big one in Vegas. if you feel compelled to find traditional Mexican tacos there's a place called Tacos Mexico that's actually pretty good.
also, if you get bored of tourists and cheesy clubs have a cab take you to the Double Down Saloon, cool local's only bar that plays good music |
