Thought a dedicated thread would be nice.
Art Brut are announced as supporting on the 8th. And I think Dinosaur Pileup are playing on the 9th. |

And the Big Pink are supporting on the 6th. Just leaves the 7th to fill in. Maybe it'll be David Lovering!;) |

Art Brut's latest album was produced by Frank Black, so I've just discovered. |

Weatherspoons?
Don't try to buy any weed off anyone round there.
I recommend their latest album Vs Satan, it was produced by Frank Black.

The Art Brut set will also be heavy on the first two albums, which are both fantastic.

Going on Thursday. Can't wait. Never been to the Brixton Academy before, in fact haven't been to that many gigs in London at all ... but have seen the Pixies at The Forum and Alexandra Palace. Nice to get round the venues! |

Travelling down on Friday 9th with my girlfriend. First Pixies gig for both of us, though I did see Frank Black on the Svn Fngrs tour last year in Manchester. Can't wait for this! And just to make my life that little bit better I've got the whole of this week off work! What a week this will be!

I'm going on Tuesday (tomorrow) and Thursday. Since I live in London now, it seemed a shame to only go to one!
apparently that Wetherspoons is a nightmare. |

absolutely cracking first night. no difference in setlist for the first part of the show with a first encore of wave (uk surf) and into the white.
we got a second encore though tonight of bone machine, umass and gigantic which was absolutely incredible. crowd went mad for umass.
of the 6 shows ive seen, this was by far the most fun. front of the gig was mostly late 20s to mid 30s guys having a great time. really great energy and enthusiasm. doolittle was immense, as expected!

Sounds good Rich. Great to hear U-mass was in there! Hopefully the second encore on Thursday when I'm there will have some surprises as well. |

Yep, marvellous gig. Best one of the reunion tour for me. Absolutely mental down at the front.
A few observations...
* BF has a lot more pedals by his rig than before. A lot of the songs saw him mixing the acoustic sound with the electric.
* A bouncer wandered round the front row before the gig began, explaining that "it won't be like other shows. They'll leave the stage, play another song, then leave, then the house lights will come up, and then they'll play some more". People went crazy.
* A girl aloft on someone's shoulders managed to resist getting hauled out of the audience by security, since she had #13 scrawled on her left breast.
* The screens are really effective. Love the footage of the band members goofing around to 'Here Comes Your Man'. The intro of 'Un Chien Andalou' seems to go on forever, though!
* Jon Tiven was spotted in the wings. He's playing at the Village Underground on Thursday night

Fantastic gig, don't know if it was better than 2004 but it's close. And I don't know if the Irish/Scottish gigs were doing CDs - it was hard sell tonight but worth spending the money on, sounds great :) |

Hehe yeah the NME article made me chuckle -
"Frank Black and co had previously announced that they were to perform their 1989 album 'Doolittle' in full at the gig, but surprised fans by playing a host of B-sides before kicking into the album" - nme.com today
"Pixies will play all the songs that feature on the album and its related b-sides at the shows." nme.com June 29th
Hmmmmm, nme on the ball as ever then
Anyways I digress, the reason for posting is - apart from the CDs and usb whatnots, what merch is for sale at the gigs? Any shirts / badges / prints / commemorative coins etc? |

Good selection of shirts, and at least one print. The cd and usb idea is fantastic, and there was a lot of excited chatter when it was announced. |

Thanks Ziggy. For money reasons I'm going to have to hope there's still some usbs or cds from the show available from the website afterwards....

There's also a really nice screenprint of the album cover for 」20.
Yeh the girl with 13 scrawled on her was funny. Came trying to push through the back of me and when I went to let her past, got said breast out just in case I hadn't seen 13 written on it. Haha. Don't think Frank looked over while she was on the guy's shoulders. Joey saw her, looked unimpressed. Still, 10/10 for effort.

Pixies Kick Off London 'Doolittle' gig residency
http://www.nme.com/news/pixies/47713
How come that gets a headline article on the NME, and they ignore the SECC and Olympia gigs? IMO the SECC was more of a gig worth reporting that the Brixton ones, because of the 1991 thing.
