I managed to get seats. Missed General Admission standing tickets in the presale so waited for the main sale thinking there must have only been a few allocated for the presale. But they were all gone!

I notice scalpers already selling GA tickets for $175 on eBay. Greedy bastards.

The Australian - Confessions of a Pixies addict.

*bump*

WA Today - Rock legends of the past flocking to WA.

Another hugely influential band out of the 80s is The Pixies.
Formed in Boston in 1986 and disbanding in 1992, this is only the
second time they have come to Australia. The first was when
they reformed in 2007 and now they will be in town to celebrate
the 20th anniversary of their third album, 1989s Doolittle. The
Pixies legacy is said to have helped form the alternative rock
boom of the 1990s, Kurt Cobain of Nirvana cited Pixies second
album Surfer Rosa as one of his main influences. You can still
witness your own piece of rock history when The Pixies play at
Belvoir Amphitheatre on March 27 as tickets are still available.

Saw em at Sydney at the Hordern on Sunday and Monday nights. Great fun, as expected. Was pretty crazy up the front on Monday night in particular. The sound was perfect.

2nd encores:

Sunday:
Where is My Mind
Planet Of Sound (!)
Dig For Fire
Gigantic

Monday:
Velouria :P
Nimrod's Son
Vamos
Where Is My Mind

was hoping for longer encores but oh well....

Frank didn't say a word between songs on either night, apart from mouthing something like "what the fuck, man" in disgust at some clown who starting frisbeeing cds towards the stage on the first night. He was in great voice though.

Kim was more talkative, but said the same things at the same time each night, ie. "some b-sides" "thats the end of side one" "we know songs that aren't on that album by the way".

Planet Of Sound was sensational, and I was dying to hear Velouria after never hearing it in my first 3 pixies experiences - was a great way to end the 2nd night. Oh yeh, before "Dig For Fire", Kim said "we had to practice this one this morning. Its gonna be good". And it was. I'm jealous though Benji - that encore on the 12th looks....frenetic. Probably a good thing though, energy levels were nearing zero around the time of Crackity Jones. I'm getting too old.

Can't get over how good they sounded though, especially after the woeful openers "The Art". They did have some comical song names though...."Figment Of My Imagination"..."Indecisive Weirdo".

Saw ~P~ in Brisbane Thurs nite 18 March = they were good.

B-sides/Doolittle > Wave (UK Surf)/Into The White > Caribou/Holiday Song/Planet Of Sound/Gigantic/Where Is My Mind?

Btw, the venue turned all the lights on at the start of the 2nd encore (assuming the show was over I guess) and they stayed on until the end of the last song. Interesting move.
